So I picked up my copy of Infamous 2 today from best buy (where I preordered), and the cashier gave me a little booklet/ voucher which contained a code to download the Kessler skin for cole. However, while I was looking it over at the bus stop the coucher code read something like "play as kessler the evil antagonist from the original infamous" or something like that. That sentence got me thinking though, was kessler truly evil. I mean he was certainly the main antagonist, but was he really evil? I mean the kessler's biggest mistake was running away from the beast, but I can't really fault him for that as he did it to protect himself and his family. Anyways, thoughts?

Wow, you got me all excited. I thought you were a Boston fan who had misspelled Ryan Kesler's name. I was already for a flame war of epic proportions but I should have remembered that no one actually watches hockey. *sigh*

Sorry for adding nothing to your thread. I never played the Infamouses

He wasn't evil. He did what was necessary to prevent horrible torturous deaths to the entire world's population, let alone the destruction of ecological systems through the addition of volcanoes! (I'm guessing that last part by the whole 'Volcano-doom' shown in the first time-line flashback that Kessler shows Cole (you know, everything's on fire, there are people impaled on what look like palm-tree sized toothpicks, volcanoes erupt in the middle of cities)).

I think the evil is wrong, but the antoagonist is right. I mean, he opposes Cole (antagonist), but he does so to make him stronger so that he can save the world (not evil).

During 1 I always kinda sympathised with him and he was like, wrong for the right reasons or something.

He definitely did some shit that could be construed as evil, but "the greater good" comes to mind here. If he hadn't done all that spoilerific stuff, everyone would have died. He seems like a true hero to me, sacrificing himself and putting himself through intense psychological torment to save humanity.

to be honest the word "evil" rarely applies, often evil is just the label put on those who believe that the world should work differently than it does. Few "evil" people think of themselves as evil, take the recently deceased Osama bin Laden, i don't rly care if thats spelled correctly, i doubt he thought of himself as evil but he was labeled as such by everyone else because he wanted to change the world, not saying i agreed with him just that evil is really a matter of personal views. in Kesslers case he was considered evil for the amount of destruction he brought, but he saw it as the best way to deal with the beast, whether or not anybody else thinks him evil is really a matter of do the ends justify the means, in my opinion, for this game yes they do.

I don't think he was evil. his actions to save the masses, in general, remind me of Ozymandias from Watchmen. Killing millions to save billions.

Ya these were pretty much my thoughts too. I mean everything he did was to prepare cole to save everyone from certain destruction.
