When we have a need to evolve. Evolution is a genetic mutation that serves to make us superior at surviving then others of our species. Allowing those with the mutation to reproduce and pass it on. We're the only species in the solar system that doesn't adapt to the environment. We have no predators to hide from. We are the kings of the animal kingdom and we shape the environment to meet our needs.

The only time we will ever even have the chance to evolve is when civilization itself dies.

We'll probably become more dependent on technology and more tolerant to bad diets. Possibly to the point that we can't survive without either. Evolution is adaptation not improvement.

Its already been predicted that 6 fingers is the next logical step. However as humans have begun conscious thought it is less likely this will occur.

unfortunately, due to our increasingly sedentary lifestyles, the changes will probably make us weaker in some way.

Unless something drastic changes, evolution will only take us backwards.

Evolution can?t take us backward, Evolution is the result of adapting to survive in a specific environment through the preservation of the genes that are best for reproducing in that environment.
And if the most major attribute that leads to an extreme amount of reproduction in an environment is being uneducated, then what?

We don't need to survive in the wild. We have police officers and Wal-Marts. No need to be fit.

We don't need to be intelligent to survive. Sure, in the recession its harder for unskilled laborers to get jobs, but its still possible, and most countries have some form of health care. No need to be intelligent to reproduce.

With no need to be fit, and no need to be intelligent, how does evolution promote good for the species?

No pinky toe--it's shortening anyways.

Ring and pinky fingers completely autonomous. I.E., you can control one and the other totally separately. Might not actually happen but it would make a lot of sense and be a nice jump.

Increase in brown fat cell count. It's already happening.

Hopefully a body able to process high fructose corn syrup as easily as we can process real sugar right now. Since in America, at least, fucking everything has HFCS in it. And I mean almost literally everything.

That's maybe it. Everything else doesn't have to change, since we are a fairly unique species in that we adapt our environment to us, and we make stuff that does stuff for us (robots and the like). So we don't really need to evolve to do what we don't do anyways.

We'll get rid of what we don't need (appendix, tailbone, etc.), but other than that I don't see the human race evolving any further. The only evolution we need is evolution of technology. We can shape this world to fit our needs, so we as organisms don't need to change.

I higher consciousness that allows us to feel more connected to each other and appreciate our relationship with nature more intimately resulting in a world where everyone considers others and the environment.

Our halux (big toe) will gradually shrink, and the third toe will become the longest, due to the shape of shoes.
What? It's happening now, and has been termed new halux (it's a word Spellcheck And so is that!).
Probably not what you were looking for.

What might happen in the future: As we gain the ability to edit genes (hypothetically leading offspring to inherit the edits), there might be groups of humans who branch off with flying humans, photosynthetic humans, merpeople, etc. However, a mutant gene may occur, leading to a bigger/more efficient brain or other body part (ohh...that sounds dirtier than intended) which would allow high survivability, such as maybe not needing to use as much oxygen at a higher atmosphere, leading the changed individuals to survive longer. Man has, and will continue to adapt to their enviornment. Also, it will be a gradual change, (like new halux, the most worthless thing around) not everyone waking up with wings. However, that could be pretty cool.

I believe what is used most are the parts that will change the most during evolution, our penises and fists will evolve and become much more advanced, while our brains will wither away.
It's been scientifically proven that behavior has no impact on evolution. Evolution impacts genes or mutation. While a bigger penis may lead to more reproduction=more children with trait, that will lead to evolution as the gene works. But children won't have gigantic hands because they have a father/mother who punched a lot of people.
I've already said it's a joke, this is the Third notification I've gotten for this post with someone replying like this.
