Evolve Has Gone Gold. To Celebrate, Here's Its Intro Cinematic

Evolve won't be facing any more delays ahead of its February 10 release date.

It's always sad to see a game delayed [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/138950-The-Witcher-3-Wild-Hunt-Delayed-To-May-2015] when its release date is imminent, but there is fortunately something that can happen to assure us there will be no further delays: going gold. Turtle Rock's upcoming monster-hunter Evolve has done just that, which confirms that the game has been sent off the manufacture, and will most definitely be in our hands for its February 10 release date.

To celebrate, the developer has revealed the game's intro cinematic, which you can check out above. Enjoy.

Additionally, Turtle Rock claims that fans have already been asking where and when they can buy Evolve merchandise. Well, if a crazy-expensive Take-Two store [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/137839-Evolves-Goliath-Brought-to-Life-in-750-Collectible-Statue].

"Now, with Evolve through certification, we're turning our attention to any lessons we can learn from the Open Beta next week, then it's back to work on some of the awesome DLC content that we've been teasing you about. Like, say, that fourth Monster," said Turtle Rock in a blog post [http://evolvegame.com/news/evolve-has-gone-gold].

You may recall that Evolve was initially scheduled for an October 2014 release date, but was delayed [http://www.polygon.com/2014/8/5/5972439/evolve-delayed-to-february-2015] following a closed alpha test on PC.

Not bad, though I would have shown it running away to eat something and evolve new powers to fight back, hence the title.

Yeah, I kept waiting for the beast to go down only for a bigger, badder beast to...I dunno...burst from the corpse or something. =P

I watched the video of the gameplay with commentary from the developers over on IGN. To say the least, this game is....um...."meh". It's basically a full priced (i.e. $60) version of humans vs tank in Left4Dead2. 4 players team together to tick away the HP of a single player playing an ultra-hulk creature in a big arena map. Really does not seem to be worth the cost. The package seems to be missing 1/2 of it's product or something.

Now instead the one coming close to the end of this month -Dying Light- seems to be a far fuller product. The game has a story to it with voiced NPC's, objectives, quests, missions, ect as well as a multiplayer super-zombie played by players feature. That seems to be what Evolve is missing: lore, story, characters, and just overall a campaign; it's just about hunters dropping from the sky and hunting big bad monsters...yawn?

Counter-strike is just about a bunch of terrorists fighting counter terrorists in generic arena like maps. There's no story or anything! Who would be interested in that kind of thing?

Different strokes for different folks, my friends.

I used to think the same thing as you, but then i got to play in the Big Alpha a few months ago.

That turned my opinion around in the best possible way.

Well Monster Hunter doesnt even pretend to have story (though i hear MH4/U is different) and yet im willing to bet that more people are going to be playing that than Dying Light.

Sometimes we crave the more simple things in life, like clubbing big angry things to death with comically oversized swords, or the BFG9000.

If only the jetpacks in the actual game were half as cool as the ones shown there.

Wow, could they have made their trailer any more boring? Instead of snappy scenes with gratuitous amounts of screen shake we get unnecessary slowmo.

If they could bomb the thing from freaking orbit, why did they send down infantry in the first place??

And Counter-Strike is only...$15. Compared to again $60, for what? I'm saying that the price point doesn't match what the product is providing compared to the rest of the market. Want a good humans vs alien monsters multiplayer game? Natural Selection II has been out for a year or two and is $25, can be grabbed from sales for $5-7. I get that there are different types of games for different people...but price wise, this game reeks of ...well hell, I see this game as BRINK 2.0 See my point?

As much as I want to get into games like this, I just can't. They're too dependent on the community, and me having the time to keep up. What I mean is, you sometimes play Left 4 Dead and it's a fun, competitive, "man! We lost! But that was awesome" game. Other times, the other team is just so damn good that it's boring because you get curb stomped. Or you're just worlds better than the other team - which some people revel in but I'm not one of those people. Then the potential pitfalls of balancing, especially in class based games; tweak one thing, break another. And it becomes a vicious cycle of exploiting the broken element before its nerfed, making one class useless until the next patch. Maybe.

Sucks cuz this looks like a fun game to play, especially if it had enough of a story to give context to what's going on.

Also, I hate the idea that there will come a day when I can't play my game anymore. Is there any form of single player? Being a fan of "giant fighting robots," I saw decent reviews for the game "chromehounds." Yeah, late to the party, but there might be some online community left. Turns out that the game is no longer supported. What little time for gaming that I have, I spend on games that can be played offline, cuz I'd hate the thought that 5 years from now, I'd wanna dust off my copy of whatever, and not be able to play it because it was multiplayer online, and the online is no longer supported.

My sentiments exactly, it looked very bland while trying to be epic. The characters had no depth, the monster did nothing special except thrash about, the whole fight seemed pointless if they could just bombard it from afar. It just donned on me that this is Attack on Titan with advanced technology. Anyone else feel the same way?

Waht's the deal with preordering the fourth monster? Will it just not be ready in time for release but then be available for everyone to download or is it actual exclusive content?

Played it during open Beta.... once they got the PS4 version going anyway... Not impressed. Once again Escapist hits the hype button and feeds the Gamer gate theory.

I've been somewhat interested in the game and have heard good things from those who have played it. The price is a bit too high for me though, I think i'll wait for it to drop in price or go on sale.

What exactly have they done here to hype it up? They made an article posting the trailer and letting people know it's gone gold, this is the kind of stuff I like getting from my gaming news websites. Sometimes they do it for games I am interested in, sometimes it's for stuff that I am not interested in but im still glad they do it.

I tend to think along the lines that game publications like to hype up all of the major new games but this article really didn't seem that loaded with false hype and plenty of people are excited about this game and will likely appreciate the reminder.
