I wonder... Just read http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/6.870265-Evolve-Review-Intelligent-Design?page=2, but since I played both the alpha and beta on the PC I severely disagreed (and still do) with the review of that time.
Yet I wonder since Evolve is on sale on Steam atm - has Evolve improved? Has, for example, some free additional content been added, or is it pay-for only?

(Captcha: Tennessee? Why are you giving me that captcha? I'm living nowhere near there)

Considering the playerbase for it has dwindled and no one is talking about the game, jumping on board now might not be the best idea.

They've added some maps and Arena mode (pre-domed, level 2 monster with half armor vs hunters, basically a "fair" deathmatch with none of the hunting play) in free updates.

The DLC is still hilariously overpriced for the hunters/monster, and hilariously overabundant in cosmetics. There's a bit of power creep in the DLC hunters as well.

The playerbase has shrunk, and there's probably a barrier to casual gameplay entry, particularly as the monster.

Well I just tried to get into a match. Waited about 20 mins while playing fire emblem awakening (god thats a great game) on my 3ds and I never got a match. Thats a problem right there.

So I got curious and went to look at steam charts. Evolves got a little under 700 average players over the last 30 day period. Thats pretty much a dead multiplayer right there

Seems the community got pretty fed up of the small amount of content and hight quantity of over priced DLC and jumped ship.

Personally, I've never seen an ad campaign that put me off so quickly months before release. The huge DLC overload before release was absurd.

It's a multi player only game with less than a thousand people playing it, it's dead, dead as the Dodo.

I've tried to play it a few times recently its pretty much dead. I'll get into a match with 1 other player and the rest gets filled out with bots.
I thought Titanfall's community died fast but man Evolve took the cake.

One of the big problems it's having is attracting people.
700 player average is dead, dead dead dead dead.

They can't boost that because the word of mouth regarding all the DLC was incredibly negative AND the game hasn't dropped in price. It's still $70 CDN, which is the price it launched at. It's on sale now at the time of writing for $42 CDN, which is hardly a bargain for the privileged to play a couple rounds of hunt the monster in an online ghost town.
