Woo, a reason to come here! Damn you, M00t, why do you not put a list of banned URLs? Or at least mention SOMEWHERE in the rules that the Detect Samefag script is banned.
Vespoids. Fucking Vespoids. And Bhanabaras in MHTri. GET YOUR CARAPACED ASS DOWN HERE YOU BUG!

And before I go, does being banned from 4chan while using a trip also ban that trip?
I would go for barioth, or agnaktor personally, they have a normal portion of health, but THEY FLY OR TUNNEL relentlessly...it makes me want to kick a felyne

Hammer Bros. just threw so much at you it was hard to get to them.
The shotgun guys in Uncharted were super strong unless you knocked their helmet off.

It isn't a "normal" enemy, but that fucking fish boss in the beginning of RE4. I couldn't steer that damn boat away from the large chunks 'o logs well enough so that I wouldn't end up hitting them and capsizing the boat. That boss only takes 8 or so harpoons in order to kill, but I would always get 6 or so before dying.

Did manage to kill the damn thing though.

I'm thinking of the black ops assassins in Half-Life1. Fast, smart, they poke you full of holes and disappear before you can pull your HEV pants up.

The Kleer from the first Serious Sam games. Combination of speed, lunges, and ranged attacks (with the usual SS hordes) make them one of the most challenging enemies to fight.

MGS and Armoured Core games tend to do this well in my opinion but most of the worst offenders of more health equals harder tend to be RPGs. There are plenty of exceptions but that is the main problem area.

Guild Wars has a variety of methods. All monsters are higher level to more damage and attack and move faster. They then added the joy of having enemies with random builds so you never knew which **** was ressurecting their team and finally just saying fuck it and having badly placed patrols.

Deathclaws from Fallout NV/3. They don't have crazy high health (500 health and a 15 DT) and at range you can one shot them all day long with the anti-material sniper rifle. But once they get in close, your fucked. They can kill you in like, 4 hits and they lunge at you. Moreover, they usually fight in packs and all of them will just gang rape you.

I want to say Elites from Halo Reach but then I remember, the only reason theyre so hard is because on later difficulties they all have more shields and health than you (being able to survive up to 3 headshots with a sniper), and they have the ability to detect when you are looking at them through a scope, even if they shouldnt be able to detect you.

The bosses in Dead Space 1 + 2. They're pretty fun. It's not that they have millions of hp, but it requires aiming, and strategy. The games are very fun, recently got them on the Steam sale a couple weeks ago.

The Infected from Dead Island. Mother fuckers die in like 1 or 2 hits but goddamn they can hurt you before they go down if you don't time your attack right.
That one area in the city is just a goddamn death trap it just spawns so many Infected.

Pretty much the early monsters in Monster Hunter Tri like the Great Jaggi and Barroth but only becasue you start off wearing weak armours and weapons.
They are very challanging despite being the weaker monsters (especially Barroth charge attack) but it did teach you how dodge, block or when to move out of the way.

Of course once you got better gears, you can pretty much killed them without breaking a sweat.

Dr M. from Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. He had a good amount of health, but if you tried to get in close to hit him, he'd just hit you right back before you could react. So technically the challenge was hitting him.

It's been awhile since I've played it, but I remember the Satyr enemies in God of War III being incredibly difficult because they were really fast and could impale you on those goddamn spears of theirs before you could react. Actually, come to think of it, the Cerberus Pups from the first God of War were difficult mainly because they spawned rapidly and if you didn't kill them quickly they'd grow into full blown Cerberus and cause all sorts of hell for you. On their own it only took a couple of swipes to finish them.
Also, I'd say the snipers in the Uncharted games are good examples of enemies that are dangerous without having a lot of health. All it takes is one well-placed shot to kill them. The problem is that this goes both ways, and they're equally capable of killing you in a single shot.

The Helghast from Killzone 2 and 3. The ones from KZ1 had shitty AI, so they don't count.

On higher difficulties, they don't get more health, they just get smarter. They'll grenade you to flush you out, and then pick you apart in seconds. They blind fire from cover, they won't move unless you force them to, and they know the territory better than you do.

I suppose this doesn't really count because the game is designed to be as hard as possible, but pretty much most the bosses in I Wanna Be the Guy.

Most of them don't take too many hits to go down, but they're just so unpredictable.

Basically any boss in Dark Souls is difficult but killable if you go all "slash, slash dodge" except the Gaping Dragon, it's like they made that boss on Opposite Day. It's more "slash, slash, slash, nonchalantly pimp walk away" purely because of the ridiculous charge time for all of his attacks.

Anyway, i don't think i've seen a boss in DS that just lives on having bullshit health. Their health goes down fairly quick per hit. It's learning when to attack that's the problem.

Looking at you Bell Gargoyles...

The hammer bros in super mario anyone?
Or medusa heads on castlevania? Damn those medusa heads....

Or ornstein & smough in dark souls which are almost impossible to beat solo and pretty much end your game if you don't/can't play it online but don't have that much health at all.
Yes these two. God i loved everything about this fight. Everything. Even that empowered ornstein one-shot impale. You can do it solo. I eventually got it done solo... But... The sheer intensity of the fight where you know that just ONE false step and it's over...

<3 for dark souls, warts and all.
