Exception(s) you made for the game genre(s) you hate

Now now, nobody likes everything, but nobody hates everything either, am I right?

I generally dislike racing game a lot, but I made an exception for Gran Turismo 2 (or 3, I don't remember anymore) back on the PSX. The game was just too addicting for me to stop, tons of upgrades for each cars and they were just way too many cars to list right now. Some of the races even offer you unique prices, I don't even remember how many hours I spent on this game I suppose to hate. lol

I also don't like Fighting games, but I made an exception for the Soul Calibur series for unknown reason, perhaps it is one of the few fighting games that involve weapons. (Or like, the only fighting game that I was ever good at, haha)

RPGs. Namely JRPGs. I only made an exception for Pokemon!

Can't really say there are any genres I actually hate. I do generally avoid racing games, but there are a couple in various arcades I can persuade myself to sit down and enjoy.

I gave Gears of War a go, because I generally hate that type of testosterone, big gun wielding, super american type game. I still hate them after finishing.

Bioshock. I'm not a fan of FPS' but I made an exception for Bioshock and boy am I glad! Woulda missed one of the best games (in my opinion) of all time.

I don't really hate any genre, don't really dislike any in fact. Well, I wouldn't pay for a Point-and-Click adventure game I guess, might play it though.

Racing Games exceptions = Midnight Club, Daytona USA, Cruisin' USA, Mario Kart
Synchronized Button Masher exceptions = Guitar Hero III and Guitar Hero World Tour
Shooter exceptions = Bioshock, The Orange Box, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
Casual Game exceptions = Zuma and Plants vs. Zombies
Fighter exceptions = Darkstalkers, Guilty Gear series, Soul Caliber 3 and 4
Sport Game exceptions = Tony Hawk series, Hot Shots Golf series, Super Dodge Ball

I don't like FPS, but I played Halo: CE. I was pleasantly surprised, but I didn't think it was the be-all, end-all of games.

I stay away from all Sports/Racing games, except for Burnout. But that's less a racing game and more a car destruction game, which I am in favor of.

I never really 'got' JRPGs, but after watching Giantbomb's endurance run, I thought I should give it a try because it looked pretty damn good. So far, it's a blast.

FIghters: DoA 4, I really like the flow to the fighting and how most combos are really easy to pull off, but there are some that are tough to master.
