I can't do it, I try and I try. I've played the best I've played in a long time. No matter what it just escapes me every time. I can't beat a L4D campaign on expert by myself with AI. We start off good then we just get to a part where the AI don't function as I'd like them to and it screws everything up. Now I've come to the conclusion I'm going to need some extra help from actual people to accomplish this feat.

So I'm just curious has anyone beaten any L4D campaigns on expert by yourself with AI?

Nah, never tried it. Tried it with just two of us doing an expert, and we can get to the finale, which is where everything usually goes wrong due to the 2 AI's being useless. It's easily doable with 3 however.

Yeah, I always have to do it with friends, but even then most people who I play with on expert seem to be retarded.

I never get anything done... except failure.

Lots and lots of failure :(

I did the first campaign, but can't get past Dark Carnival because the A.I. refuse to follow me over the roller coaster ride part.

This is the reason I don't want to do it with random people, can at least you can order your friends around. =p

none of my friends have L4D excluding one, who is never really on L4D anyway.

You gotta get really lucky with human players. Played so much of Expert Realism L4D2 I'm not touching it for a year or two. Most of the time it's failure, but there are times of extreme luck, which is quite satisfying in this game.

You have to take it slow, wait for the next Horde[footnote]Rush of about 20 or 30 zombies[/footnote], mow them down, and then rush as far ahead as you can. Search around for pipe bombs or bile bombs, preferably the latter, as AI bots are absolute tards during Cresendos[footnote]I.E Soda Run, Bridge Run, etc etc[/footnote] and it helps to keep the zombies off of you.

Grab a melee weapon, I know some people prefer pistols, but a melee weapon is CRUCIAL for Expert.

When the tank comes along, and this is very important, **DON'T PANIC**. I've seen so many teams die because they try to juke around it like a hero, or they panic and try to run past it. Just stay calm, set it on fire if you can, otherwise just keep shooting it and dodge it's rocks. When it gets too close, back up and let the bots take the punishment.

Hope these helped.

The AI is horrible. I try to avoid using them as much as possible. I've lost so many versus matches because of AI fucking around, e.g. standing in the middle of a bridge doing nothing when a tank is charging, instead of doing something sensible, like SHOOTING THE FUCKING TANK.

I've gotten through one expert campaign in L4D and I did it with 3 friends. It was hell. Took us three hours. To be fair, one of us was a bit nooby in shooters, one was a bit nooby in L4D, so it wasn't exactly an ideal situation. So it doesn't really get very easy even without the AI.

I've tried and have come pretty close to doing it. I got to the 4th level of the Parish with them...granted the last level was me sprinting to the Saferoom with the Tank behind me.

I agree with the tank thing. A lot of people I know don't even shoot at the damn thing and so I end up dying because I'm the only one trying to fight it because everyone else is scared. =/

I usually try to play with at least one friend. It doesn't seem worth it otherwise to me :\

Yeah, that's pubs for ya. I always hear something along the lines of "OH FUCK, A TANK". But really, it goes down extremely easy, especially if you have the tier 2 weapons. 4 AK-47's = Dead Tank. If anything, it's the Cresendos that get me, because there's so many of the normal zombies, and it only takes 5 hits to take you down.

It's the gaming equivalent of zombie assisted suicide. Your teammates are idiots, the zombies are vicious, and the Director wants nothing more than to see your ass infected. I'm sure that there are ways to do it, and I'm sure that lots of people have, but it's pretty damn hard. If you've accomplished this task, I salute you: it can be hard enough to do with with three competent friends, let alone incompetent bots.

Even if you can get to the Finale, surviving as what amounts to 1 vs. 1,000,000 for the time period required isn't exactly going to be easy, and the bots are useless in L4D2's rushes (i.e. the roller coaster, soda run, etc.), because they don't RUSH. They just sit on their asses and leave you to charge through the horde alone.

I actually have on The Parish. I have no idea how it happened, with the AI being as smart as a sack of cement. But yes, it is possible. It just has to be under the right circumstances...and it helps to be lucky.
