What game has the best, most satisfying explosions?

My vote goes to GTA IV, after having beat the hell out of a car, then backing away to hear the blast ring out.

Watching a plane explode when it hits the ground after you parachute out in GTA: San Andreas. Los Santos is great for that... Also, plasma 'nades in Halo (any game) and spike grenades in Halo 3

I even waited until the evening ingame to set the perfect lighting to the blast.

Mass Effect has some beautiful explosion effects, as does Bioshock at times, Gears of War 1,2 both deliver wonderful showers of blood and chunky pieces when you blow people up

But to beat this dead horse a little more.... Halo 3 has the best explosion effects ever, aside from just being great (the grenades aren't as powerful as the grenades in Halo 1 but still) they make nice explosions. But the true mastery is the lighting effects that can help you make some very great screenshots.

It's even more satisfying to jump out of a burning car and watch it go down the road and explode.

Its even more satisfying to get to to high building damage your car enough so that its burning, then ride off the building and explode in midair.

Blowing up a scarab in Halo 3 is always a delight.

Also, I have to give a nod to Battlefield Bad Company for the flak cannon. Fully automatic explosive shell launcher? Hell yes.

Super Smash Bros, Brawl or Melee. I loving smacking people with bombs from across the stage. Those are the only times I ever actually win. XD

Whenever I play Ikaruga and I beat a boss, I can't help but make the 'PKEW!' noise when they blow up. Damn that game is fun.
