Hey everybody!

I've been really eager to play some games on my Laptop but my graphics card seems to be stopping me right in my tracks. Today, I stumbled upon something call External Graphics Cards and it made my day, but I am a noob when it comes to computers and laptops and all the jazz behind the scenes and I was wondering whether External Graphics Cards are risky and tricky?

These are some I looked at:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_2/176-7250578-1338318?rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aexternal+graphics+card+for+laptops&page=2&keywords=external+graphics+card+for+laptops&ie=UTF8&qid=1387284737

Thankyou guys and I hope you can help me! :)

Ok, so i might be wrong here, but i don't think these things are GPUs, they are just USB interfaces that let you go from usb to HDMI or DVI or similar to dislay on a monitor.

Could be wrong but i don't think a $50 box will give you much of a performance boost.

First up, what you're looking at is a USB to VGA adaptor. To put into context, the onboard GPU on an i3/i5 would give you superior performance. USB's bandwidth is insufficient for gaming graphics. more details linky [http://superuser.com/questions/671730/how-does-a-usb-external-graphics-card-work]

I did some searching for other solutions and it is possible, sort of.

So, there is a very low possibility that there is an external graphics card that would boost what I already have?

If the graphics card on your laptop is absolutely crap, an external graphics card will definitely be an improvement
But AFAIK, it's definitely not worth the cost and hassle of setting it up

Besides, by the link you provided, your perception of external graphics cards is way off
You should expect something like this [http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/CES-2012-MSI-GUS-II-External-Thunderbolt-Graphics-Upgrade-System], which you need to buy a graphics card for, or one already with a card in it

You can also use this [http://www.villageinstruments.com/tiki-index.php?page=ViDock], which you also need to buy a graphics card for, and another monitor (I am not sure)
