The only thing i have to say right now is.
Escapist, give me and explanation RIGHT. NOW.
When you read the above read it in a very angry and disapproving parent voice, the type of thing a child would hear if they just put metal into the microwave or something

I think that if the escapist loses extra credits, it will be poorer for it. I mean extra credit is a really good thought provoking show, nothing else on the escapist is even remotely as thoughtful and well informed. Not to mention that the people who do it are some of the best people I've ever seen on the internet.

As much as I like The Escapist and the entire community (even the people I clash with, you guys are still cool), it's safe to say that hits on this site will drop. My support goes to Extra Credits, sorry Escapist, you let a good thing go.

The issue isn't so much that Extra Credits will no longer be on the site, but more of an issue of morality, at least for me. Trying to take a portion of donation money meant to help an injured artist is just wrong. Whether you liked the show or not, to excuse such dirty business tactics is irresponsible as a site user. It basically opens the door for The Escapist to do it to any other contributer, if they aren't already, with little to no consequences.

yeah, I'm not a frequent flyer on this website, but Extra Credits was one of my favorite series. Although it is sad that it's ending, I'm more pissed off on WHY it's ending. Escapist, if you want to be known as a sanctuary for the intelligent minded viewers who frequent this site, you might want to start acting charitable.

Well... Shit. I feel bad for Extra Credits, and I feel like the Escapist (or, specifically, whoever made the decision) is in the wrong pretty bad here. I'm not gonna stop coming to the site, but I'm gonna be bitter about this for a little while.

such utter rubbish. Extra Credits is one of the best series on the escapist. If they drop it they're going to lose a huge part of their audience. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot...

Always knew that The Escapist was run by a bunch of greedy jews. Just surprised that it took this long for people to realize it. I hate Extra Credits, it's pretentious bullshit, but that doesn't mean that I think this shit they're doing is right. Thumbs crossed for Lulzsec or some major boycott from the users, though I know that won't happen since all pubclub members are already blind sheep who won't possibly consider this as a negative or anything.
Seriously... this isn't what Extra Credits stands for. While I don't like how this is going calling Escapist greedy Jews isn't helping anything

My support for the Escapist hangs on their actions regarding Extra Credits.

Refusing to pay the team for such an amazing amount of hard work and then muscling in demanding a slice of their cake is just downright sick.

All The Escapist is doing is alienating its own community, just for a quick cash scoop.

It sickens me to see a site I up until now held in high regard for being a very progressive site that advocated and encouraged growing talent amongst gaming culture and shows, show a disgusting, corporate side like that.

Sure ignore it, but you can guarantee, if Extra Credits doesn't get the sweet justice, you won't be smirking and patting your fat wallets for much longer.

Out of curiosity, what DO the others think about all this? Moviebob, Yhatzee, and the like?

Geez. I don't believe that The Escapist is intentionally trying to be mean. Neiather is Extra Creditz. I think there was some miscommunication going on here. Something about a record label, and demanding donation money. THIS is where people's feelings need to be addressed.

I say that the people who run the Escapist should be put in a room with James, Daniel, and Alison, and just work it out. They're all sensible people, arn't they? Surely they can handle a discussion without flaring in anger.

But the atouney guy? No. We can't guarentee that he cares about the show. Fire him, or atleast make sure he's not in the room. I wouldn't be surprised if he's pressuring James to pressure the Escapist.

Well that's a double two finger salute with a raspberry topping from me, T'is a shame I liked the escapist but I'll manage without it.

I've got to admit it would be nice to see all of the escapists other contributors standing up Extra Credits, Yahtzee, Jim, Bob and everyone else. But this may have just savaged my remaining hope in the dark and scary internet.

I un-bookmarked a while ago, but yeah, I'll have less of a reason to come around after this.

If the escapist would fire Jim Sterling and Yahtzee, then I'd have no reason to visit at all.

Extra Credits, Jim Sterling and Yahtzee were the only contributors whose stuff I enjoyed on the escapist. I thought it was a smart move for them to poach the EC team from YouTube, but looks like that got kicked in the head. So I'll be supporting EC on YouTube, and not supporting the escapist in this.

Edit: Sorry for the double post, I thought the site deleted my last post. It's crazy busy over here right now. Wonder why? >_>

Call it selfish... but I was really looking forward to an Extra Credits and Zero Punctuation ep tommorow...
It's pretty much blazoned itself into my thursday routine, I finish TAFE, do the shoppin and watch ZP and EC fullscreened with some chips and a drink before doin much else :/

Sad to see it go, esspecially over such a vile miscommunication (and yes, I DO believe this to be one huge legal miscommunication... I can't see why either side would do this deliberately)

Congratu-fucking-lations Escapist. I am appalled by the way you've abused the nature of your agreement with the guys behind Extra Credits. If you wanted to cancel the show, sure, I'd be upset because it's great content but it wouldn't be the end of the world, but the way you greedy cunts are dealing with this situation is fucking disgusting. You put ads all over your fucking site, yet somehow manage to not pay the people, are somehow entitled to 75% of the donations people made to Alison, and then somehow they still owe you cocksuckers money? Fuck you Escapist. I love Zero Punctuation but fuck it, I'm never coming to this site ever again. This is my farewell. I hope you greedy sacks of shit burn in hell. Eat shit and go die.

I eagerly await Extra-Credits' appearance elsewhere.

I won't leave this site though. I came here for ZP, and ZP is still here.

Hmm, bleeding hearts only listening to one side? This sounds completely rational. Great way to make decisions OP.

Not just not pay them, but say they want 75% of the money that was meant for Allison's donation?

The fuck Escapist, just... what the fuck?

http://twitter.com/#!/ExtraCreditz

Whole story is just... unbelievable. Just holy shit.
No, they want 75% of the money that's left after removing the money required to pay for Alison's surgery to go towards Extra Credits. Whereas James wanted to put the remaining money into starting his own indie publishing company.

At least that's the jist I've gotten from all the back and forth so far.

I don't know guys. There's a little too much he said/she said for me to make any kind of rash judgement against either party involved here. It sounds like lawyers are involved at this point anyway.

Not paying your people sounds bad, but so does taking your complaints to the twitterverse with little other than your claims to back up your accusations.

I'll wait to raise my fist in rage until I really know who to raise it at.

In the meantime, I would say taking down the Escapist for this will also hurt other contributors. I don't really think they deserve to be punished for this debacle, no matter the outcome.
