I, I have no idea what to say. I don't understand anything anymore. I did learn that Call of Duty Online is a thing. But I honestly have no idea why, of all the things to do on PC with the Halo IP, that a Russian exclusive F2P game was what was officially announced before the release of Halo 2 and 3 on steam (something that has already gone past the point of inevitability even if no announcement has been made).

You know what? Halo being optimised for keyboard and mouse rather than having a controller focus could be a sweet move. Though it's in Russia so I won't be playing it (though I have always played Halo for the singleplayer more so than the multiplayer anyway). Hurray for being based on Halo 3's engine though, I've found much to detest about the aesthetic of the Halo games after Halo 3: ODST, seeing as most of the NPCs just look ugly.

And 343, you don't have to do anything for this project seeing as it's multiplayer. Please don't flesh out the UNSC Anvil with more of your bullshit in the form of text boxes or images or what-have-you.

Halo 3 did have the best aesthetics of the series, I felt. The art style rapidly declined afterwards.

Do I spy a 3rd person mode? Because I love 3rd person perspective. Was that always in Halo?

Anyway, I guess they thought that making it F2P would make the nasty Russkie pirates irrelevant, but I'm pretty sure they'll just have a huge hacker problem instead.

Ever since Halo 3 (I think), you can dismount some heavy weapons from their turrets and use them as man-portable weapons. Doing so puts you in 3rd person mode, but only for those dismountable weapons.

Yeah, some games do need to be somewhat tweaked for a system that uses a different control method, I dont know what they did with Halo 2 and the DMR but I cant imagine a FPS like Timesplitters working properly with a mouse and keyboard out of the box since the game has a lot of mechanics that were made with a console controller in mind (it has auto aim up its ass with no reticule)

And thank god its based on the Halo 3 engine, it is the Halo game that looks the best, it has such a clean aesthetic

Gearbox spent a long time porting Halo to PC, the result was buttery smooth controls, significantly up-rezzed bumpmaps and shaders, and additional particles and effects. Halo 2 was rushed by a few guys at MS and had horrible mouse smoothing you couldn't completely turn off, laggy camera movement, blurry, distorted shader effects, and really low-rez lighting.

It's far easier if the game is released on both platforms simultaneously, like Dishonored or Human Revolution.

I disagree. I felt that Halo 3 was where things started to get a little silly, with the Elites' heads becoming ginormous and the Brutes looking ridiculous in their body armor. I preferred Halo 2 where the Brutes were hairy dome helmeted gorillas and the Elites looked like sleek sharks.

Lots of pirates in Russia. Microsoft probably wants to test the grounds with a f2p game with some microtransactions and Microsoft ads or something similar, to see how willing Russians are to pay perhaps. I think they're running a long con with the ultimate goal of gaining more influence and control in that part of the world.

Halo is not a well-recognised IP in Russia, so why anyone would create a Russia-exclusive Halo game is frankly beyond me.

Not if you want to sell xbox's though and Halo is the system seller.

The combat helmet for the Elites was a bit ridiculous, and the Assault helmet made it look too small. The Walrus mask is excellent, though. And the Prophets... damn <3 <3 <3 (and you can see the Halo 3 version of the Prophet of Regret in the manual which is nice).

Both the Elites and Brutes look better than... whatever the hell this is though.

Its interesting to see I guess, but I'm not heartbroken that I won't be able to play what looks like P2W nonsense with all the things I hated most about Halo 4, namely a bunch of customizable loadouts and sprint.

As much as I love the series as a whole, I feel like it is a really inconsistent series. The tone of the main story changes from game to game, we have an RTS here, an anime collection there, an expansion that turned into a full priced game(I really did love ODST though), one solid PC port, one bad PC port, then no PC ports, two pretty awful web series, and now a Russia only F2P game.

The handling of this series has been all over the place.

To be fair to ODST, it came with a disc containing all of the DLC maps for Halo 3. It's basically Halo 3: GOTY Edition minus the campaign and plus ODST's longer, better constructed campaign.

See, I don't get what was happening with Halo 4's art design. Not only does it not improve on solid designs, but the changes just don't make sense. The chicken monster Jackals turn into dinosaurs, and the methane breathing Grunts lost their gas masks.

Hey as Cortana says, "a lot can happen in four years".

[small]That is the single most dickish thing I have ever said regarding Halo 4, and I loved every second of it.[/small]

Halo 2 did a lot of things better - environment design especially, as well as being a better game.

So I should say 2/3. They are both similar, much more so than the other Halos.

If the game is only in Russia, why was the text in that preview in English?

This seems like an unnecessary restriction to me.
