Playing the demo, I get the feeling that the Pub Games follow in the same vein as the main game; making everything life like and reactive. The problem with this is, they then make gambling games realisticlly difficult. The odds favour 'the house', just like in real life. That's why online poker is so much more popular than any other online gambling; there is skill involved, even if you can't see your opponents.

Fortunes Tower is the only game which involves the slightest inkling of skill. Which then leads to a feeling of dissatisfaction when you realise that you paid money for something that will make you lose, computer cheating or not. Also, I can't face the idea that these games come as a seperate option. If you're into Fable 2, then you probably remember how in one demonstration video it was mentioned how you could win money in the arcade game for your characters, and you probably said "That's a nice idea".

But it's not. I didn't have to preorder or pay or download for Pazaak in Knights of the Old Republic, so why should I have to do so here? The game itself is horribly addictive, so I was quite happy when I realised I could get it for free by preordering, but I would never consider actually paying for it. Speaking of which, thanks to D_987 for mentioning that not that many places support the preorder thing.

Just my thoughts from someone who doesn't actually own the (full) game.

Actually, getting something that let's me cheat for infinite cash doesn't sound too bad... :)

Nice post, with the frankly PATHETIC glitch (what were the testing team on?) its an easy way to make quick cash if you need any in Fable 2 - which I think is a good thing, an RPG is supposed to let YOU play the game how you want, so if you choose to be rich or poor you should be able to.

And I think they wanted to stop the very thing thats happening - everyone making a ton of money - but Lionhead DIDN'T make the pub games, some other company that makes Xbox Live arcade games did, so they messed up big-time.

Yeah, I wonder if they'll fix the glitch for Fable 2.

Even if they do you can till cheat by constantly merging your money with your character - and it seems they did the glitch delibratly.

lol, Fable will be amazing - wait until it comes out and you've completed the main storyline before you get a life.

I think that that was a great review, but I can't say I agree with you. I enjoy playing Fortune Tower and Spinnerbox, (even if I always lose money in Spinner.) Fortunately, I have over 1 million gold, so it's always ready to feed my Spinnerbox addiction. My friend is terrific at Keystone and currently has 12 million and some gold. No joke. I won't merge my gold with my character the first time through, because I think having too much gold right from the start might ruin the experience of Fable 2. I will however merge if there is something really expensive in it that I want.

I have 1 million - but Im guessing you used the fortunes tower cheat (don't lie) this review was done before I discovred the glitch.

im pretty sure the fortune's tower glitch has broken the whole point of the game (the pub games i mean), but im not too torn up about it. skill has nothing to do with any of the games, its all just random chance, like real gambling. and if your like me, than your luck is awful. the first hour or so of playing the games, i was 20,000$ in debt, and while i had unlocked some of the items, i was afraid that i would start playing fable 2, and some enormous thug would come up to my 10 year old self and threaten to break my kneecaps if i didn't pay up. now instead of being a homeless little kid on the run from loan sharks, im going to be a homeless little kid who is covered in tattoos, has a gun and a sword and just so happens to be a millionaire. i hope lionhead will put something to explain where you got this stuff from, rather than just going "good job, here's your stuff!"

Well I think the whole point of the glitch was to give players the option to earn the money (I think it was deliberate) you don't have to use it.

i dont think it was deliberate, and if lionhead intended for everyone to be able to earn money easily, it wouldn't have been on such a grand scale. i mean within 2 hours, i was up 500,00$. im just saying that if this was deliberate, i don't think the payouts would be as grand.

huh, well doesn't that just pull more evidence away from your argument that the glitch was intentional?

Not really, because something that obvious should have been found by Q and A.

Good review.

I only got my hands on the trial, and I enjoy it. Fortune's Tower is the only real gem in it I think though, Keystone is too complicated for me and Spinnerbox, like you said, is just pressing A.

Also, I pre-ordered the Fable II Limited Collector's Edition on Sunday from Play.com and still haven't been e-mailed the Free Download code for the Full version of Pub Games. Anybody else have this occurence, is there an expected delay?
