In the upcoming Fable 3 you will have two basic areas in the story. One were you are trying to gain the respect of the people by doing quests and such for them and then the second part your use these people to rebel against the king and make yourself king. This is not the end though, now you decide how you want to rule your empire. What do you all think of this. It takes a different approach on RPG's, usually you are trying to do quests for the king now you may feel more like the dungeon master per say.

I think Fable 3 may get a purchase from me based on this aspect of the game. It sounds very interesting. However, if village idiot A can only respect me if I kill a certain amount of wildlife Z, than I'm throwing it away.

For the love of...
People, DON'T LISTEN TO ANYTHING LIONHEAD CLAIMS.

Remember how God damned amazing Fable sounded? Remember how the learning AI in black and white was going to "astound us"? Remember how Fable 2 was going to revolutionize everything ever? Molyneux is playing you all like a fiddle. Fable 2 has a MAX framerate of like 30fps. It dropped to probably around 15 all the time, it was a steaming pile of ass for a game that didn't look very good, played like crap and (at least on my 360) crashes ALL THE TIME.

Fable 3 will be no different. Lionehad can't make a good engine, Molyneux scraps about 80% of his planned features since for any game to implement them all would take 10 years of development and what we're left with is an ugly, clunky, slow shell of a game that only tangentially delivers on it's promises.

I find it hard not to look forward to Fable 3, I haven't played the 1st Fable, I played the 2nd and enjoyed it alot.

this Kingship system put into Fable 3 seems like it will be a good piece of next-gen gaming, and if you can still go on quests and be a Hero like in Fable 2, it's good enough for me.

Ergh...I have a strong feeling that this is going to be a huge disappointment for everyone. Being a KING should mean you can do whatever you want. You should be able to conscript an army and march them all off to war, leading them (if you wish) against a neighboring nation, you should be able to order a purging of your country of all who don't approve of you. You should be able to tear down the castle and order a new one 5 times as high built in it's place. Somehow, I just dont see it happening. I get the feeling you'll have a throne you'll never sit in, a big pile of taxes that you can raise or lower to make people happy or not, and thats about all.

Prove me wrong Peter, else, I win this round.

You'll be able to rule and pass all kinds of laws in Fable3, as you could grow trees in Fable 2 or have a non linear game in Fable 1.

I'll just wait for user reviews to rip F3 apart.

I myself enjoyed the Fable series greatly and look avidly forward to the next installment into the series. Molyneux is forever trying to bring new levels of interaction to the game and I wish him the best with this game because if he can bring this king stuff into reality, it will prove to be an outstanding addition to the already great foundation of the Fable series.

I had it on 360, the framerate was fine, it ran well and never crashed... You may need to invest in a new Xbox? And besides from that yes the kingship thing sounds cool, but it'll probably be similar to overlord.

The last great game Molyneux made was Populous: The Beginning.

So, yeah. It could be interesting, but I don't really see the point. Usually RPG's/fantasy ends with a/the coronation. This is likely because being a king isn't all that great. Unless you're Cailin from Dragon Age, and he's a twat. No player character wants to be a twat.

Molyneux cited how your decisions would alter the world, how you could shape your hero, family would be worthwhile, your children would become something important and etc. What were we left with? Faceless NPCs with inane and repetitious dialogue, two predetermined "world changing" outcomes which have no actual bearing upon the storyline, in addition the evil choice is a hindrance and a storyline so lackluster, it nigh could be thought an insult. Fable would be a more welcoming series if Lionhead could stifle the relentless hyping of Peter Molyneux who never once has delivered. Fable may not be a horrid game, however it is not worthy of any praise since the entirety of the game is built upon average mechanics and a pathetic storyline.

The ruling portion of the game sounds interesting, but it may also get tedious. It's hard to say, the recent Dragon Age expansion pack had a partial focus on ruling Amaranthine, not as a king but as the Commander of the Grey. I found these parts interesting, but only because they were also placed between points of high action. So you'd come home from questing only to find the nobles at your doorstep, asking you where to send your troops. It worked because it wasn't the sole part of the game, and because your actions really did have consequences.

I guess we'll see how Fable handles it. Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of the series, but it'll be trying something relatively different. I'll at least have to see if it manages to pull it off successfully.

I don't trust anything Lionhead tells us. They do make good games (b&w2 for example), but they always try to overhype. I'll just see it when it's released.

I was going to buy Fable 3 anyways, because I liked Fable 1 and loved Fable 2.
I stopped caring about Fable's hype after the first one, and just enjoyed what the second one had to offer.
