Fable 3 Opens With Depressing Chicken Movie

Lionhead has released Fable 3's [http://www.amazon.com/Fable-III-Xbox-360/dp/B002I0JGDM/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1280944602&sr=1-1] opening cinematic for the world to see, and it's probably not what you were expecting.


Considering that Fable 3 is a game about a hero's struggle against an oppressive and tyrannical king, you'd think it would open with something pretty epic, right? Well, you're mostly right, as the opening cinematic depicts a brave struggle to escape a cruel and terrible fate. It's not quite the standard fantasy fare however, as our hero is a chicken.

Yes, that's right, a chicken.

The cinematic has definite Pixar vibe to it, and at first Zoë Wanamaker's rather stark voice over seems like a weird juxtaposition. But it all falls into place at the end, and the comedy of the chicken's adventures makes the ending even sadder. It's certainly an interesting way to start the game and it's likely to get a lot of people talking about the game.

Fable 3 is scheduled release for Xbox 360 on October 26th, although the PC version has been delayed [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/102562-Fable-III-Delayed-On-PC-Still-Groovy-on-Xbox-360].

It's an intro cinematic and very well made, go watch it.

It feels more like a trailer than an opening. It doesn't really lay out the setting aside from the fact that the world of industry has come to Albion, which we already know.

It has a subtle message in it though. It displays that something is wrong with the land and that your mission is going to be to bring justice to all. You almost want to do so for the sake of that chicken... I rather liked it.

I loved it.

This trailer was absolutely awesome, and it's finally nice to see a fantasy game set in an industrial time.

Because frankly, FUCK the generic medieval setting. Not only all authors/game writers fuck up the actual setting and end up with some happy bullshit without any roaming diseases and shit all over everything, it just sucks as a setting as it did in real life.

Haha, i see what your saying. I was half expecting the feather to go into the window and then someone to start sneezing. Would be funny, atleast its better than what happens to you at the start in the first Fable.

Great opening though, can't wait to play the game.
