Warning this does contain spoilers about the ending of the game. Please don't open the box below if you haven't beat it yet.

By the way there is a lot of forums going on about Fable so sorry for adding to the bunch.

Okay so I just beat it a few hours ago and man I was a good king and a stupid one. No one is left my citizens deaths were around 6,360,000. No one is left hardly and did any one else do this? I am starting a new game because there is simply no body. Anyways did anyone develop a strategy or were they just a tyrant? I think I will become a big property tycoon next game and make everything the highest rent and see what I need to do as a king from there.

Well if you really want to save the kingdom then just use one of the money glitches.Yeah it's cheap but it saved my kingdom.

I really feel betrayed by Fable 3 in this respect. It started out well enough, but then mid-game changed into this micromanagement Sims-esque...THING. Also, Molyneux really seems to have it out for anyone good. "You want to keep your promises? You want to be a good guy? Well, fuck you then--all your citizens DIE!!!"

Asshole.

Anyway...money glitches? I hate to resort to that kind of thing, but the only alternative is to say "fuck you", restart with a new character & refuse to do anything on the MQ until I've slung 8 million gold's worth of pies. Which is, of course, metagaming on a grand scale and an absolute bullshit way to run a game. Though it does explain why rent money doesn't accumulate while you're not playing, like it did in Fable 2. Big disappointment there.

Personally, I feel like there ought to be more you can do as King while still being good. If you're the all-powerful monarch, then fucking BE all-powerful. Reaver's an asshat & everyone knows it, so why not exercise one of the oldest powers of monarchy in human history: Take his stuff. All his lands, all his assets, everything: He is an enemy of the crown and is to be put to death. Hell, I'm a Hero, I'll do it myself! (Insert Boss Fight here.) Not only do you get rid of a genuine prick, you get to bring a whole helluva lot of money into the Treasury AND win support of the people. Win-win!

Anyway...yeah...off-topic, I know, sorry. I'm just pissed, and like I said, feeling a bit betrayed. And I have no idea how the hell I'm going to stay good & still save the kingdom. I'm pretty sure the game is engineered so it's not possible.

To be good and save your kingdom you must... kill time. You have to buy everything, and just start doing some random crap around the world. It'll go quicker if you decide you don't care what your citizens think of you and set everything to "highest." Oh or you can find a rich benefactor through LIVE.

I really think they just wanted to make it purposefully difficult to be a good person, since it is more difficult to be a decent person irl so you know they threw some realism in there. Oh and it does make you decide if you want to make your job infinitely easier and just renege on your promises.

It seems to be like "your brother had good reason to be a douche, now will you do the same?" or something like that.

And I suggest buying houses and business and raising the rent to 100%.

I did that, and now everyone in the Bowerstone Market hates me.

Which ended up changing me from good to evil.

Buy. alot. of houses.

The earlyer in the game you hit market, the better. Im barly past the part where you meet the other rebals, and i have about 3 mil.

When you first start off, be sure to do jobs until you can afford 2 houses, and then kick the rent up to highest. Use that income to purchase another house.

Another great tip, is to seriously slack off. Do every side mission while your purchasing housing. Goof off, make everyone in the towns love ((or hate)) you, go for achivements, whatever you want.

But waste all the time you can. Theres no time limit for you to become king. So wait until youve purchased every property, have a few million in your pocket ((your going to want about 4 or 5 so you can get the gold key to the chest in your sanctuary's treasure room)) before you accually become king. This may tac on an hour or two of lolly-gagging, but its what you want to do if you want to save everyone, and make them all happy. My first time through, i lost about 3.8 mil civi's. My second play through i only lost a few 100 thousand.

So basically, buy everything, waste time, profit.

And if you really end up in trouble, you can sell all your property for a quick boost of cash.

Well if you really want some money to save the kingdom and get it legitamitly than there are still options for you. Like this little trick.

1. After becoming king/queen, go to the demon door at Sunset House.
2. To open the door, all you have to do is be king or queen. It's that easy.
3. Go inside the demon door to recieve 1 million gold.
4. Use the gold to build a real estate empire.

Hope this helped.
