Now, if you've seen my previous thread about Fable 2, you know I love the Fable series with an extreme passion. And while I see Fable 2 as a bit above average, it made numerous people rage and distrust Ol Petey from now until the end of time.

Now, I've been more than happy with The Escapist's coverage of Fable 3, and personally, I'm looking forward to the game very much so. However, of course, people have been showing their distaste for the upcoming epic, pointing out parts of news and things from trailers that they seem to dislike.

So, I need to ask people, what in Fable 3 DOES look appealing to you?

Personally:

-Your character can have cigars...that's enough for me to buy the game itself. <<
-Return of diversity in weapons
-Return of armor!
-Badass wings
-The revolutionary aspect
-Awesome voice cast

Your turn. ;]

i agree with you,i loved fable 1, thought fable 2 was pretty good and really want fable 3

i havent really looked at the changes all that much, it seemed like people disliked fable 2 just because it was overhyped

Personally, I just enjoy the overall experience that Fable provided. I've always been hooked to the story, the gameplay is fun, and the ability to somewhat lead a "life" aside from the main game was an aspect I've found to be intriguing, to say the least. Fable is just fun.

And say what you will about the co-op in Fable 2, I had a blast playing it with my younger brother. If the co-op in 3 is that same amount of fun, than I'll be happy.

I actually had quite a bit of fun with the first Fable. Yeah I was kinda disappointed that it barely had any of the features it promised and that it was a pretty simplistic game overall, but it had a pretty decent story, funny dialog, a BEAUTIFUL musical score and art direction, and it was damn fun on a lot of levels. It wasn't great but it was pretty good at best.

Fable II on the other hand, I completely despise. Okay sure the art style and music were still just as great as ever and the inclusion of guns and a puppy dog was pretty cool, but the story, characters, and narrative were the very definition of "uninspired rubbish", the overall experience was practically unchanged, and a lot of the new features were just completely stupid and pointless(See mostly, the job and death systems). Fable II wasn't so much a sequel as it was more of a patch, but even calling it that is giving it too much credit. Instead of fixing the problems of the first game, they just made the experience more repetitive. Instead of adding features that could have greatly improved the experience, they took some out and added new ones that were either insultingly pointless or hindered the experience. And instead of actually using their time and budget to make an action role playing game that could have exceeded expectations and raised the standard, they instead decided to

I'm ready to accept the fact that Fable III might actually be the one, but Lionhead has toyed with me far too long.

Fool me once (Black and White), shame on you.

Fool me twice (Fable), shame on me.

Fool me THREE MORE TIMES (B&W2, The Movies, Fable II), and fuck you.

The story sounds good. Sounds better than what was going on in II. I liked that of the first game, though.

Any improvements made to the villagers and the relationship mechanics. I've always found it funny, if immersion-breaking, but I think this is one of the criticisms they've probably taken on board.

The new inventory management thing. That actually sounds like a great idea. And being able to hold onto one weapon for a long time and have it grow along with you. That does sound really sweet. Do want.

I honestly have been supportive of Fable through the years. However with 3 at the moment I simply cannot get nearly as excited as the prospect of doing a NG+ runthru of Demon's Souls.

I do think its sad that replaying something I just devoted 100 hours into seems more enjoyable than a new title, But Demon's souls seems like a huge FU to the fable franchise in being a more enjoyable title with a less is much much more ideology.

This is one point where a Wrpg needs to take notes from a Japanese RPG, instead of having focus on gimmicky bits like motion control and RTS-esque elements.

So what would I like to see? A more complete game, a more engaging leveling system with actual uniqueness in char building instead of Fables notorious "Hey look I leveled up everything" motif. But all this is moot to me personally because after I get done with Demons souls Ive got New Vegas, Gothic 4, Civ 5, and an absolute myriad of other games to hold me over to the point that by the time I get around to picking up Fable 3, it will likely be at the 20$ mark and If i come away with 30+ hours of gameplay which I certainly will, I will have got my moneys worth.

Well... that and chicken kickin`

To date I've yet to see anything about Fable 3 that hasn't made me want to play it. I thought the first one was an underappreciated gem and the second, while it did have it's own issues, was good enough to keep me hooked for three full playthroughs.

Admittedly, I never believed the hype or followed either game as they led up to release so I didn't have the Molyneux let-down factor to deal with and could just enjoy them for what they were.

I like most of the Fable series myself, except for the fact that the ending of Fable 2 made me want to punch a wall out of sheer "WTF!?" in anti-climatic finishing.

I've got high hopes for Fable 3, though of course not too much to be eccentric just yet until it comes out..
