Fable 4? What could Molyneux do?

If you were, like me, manipulated by blind faith and your own ridiculous fandom you too may have been unfortunate enough to have purchased Fable 3 last year. Half-way through the game or sooner(much sooner) you may have noticed that not only did Fable Mark III fail as a sequel(as in it did not manage to improve upon it's predecessors) but it also failed to meet many of the standards it set for itself. I personally considered it a tragedy due to my love for the last game and my hopes that it would meet it's true potential, because Fable is a series so full of potential without equal fine execution. So Fable 4 is my final hope that this franchise could really take their brilliant creative ideas and turn them into brilliant creative player experiences instead of failed experiments. So, what do you think Molyneux can do to improve upon his last game and the franchise as a whole? What can be done for Fable to realize it's full potential?

in my oppinion he can bring back:

-Pub Games

-beefier RPG elements, that improve on F1's design

-improve the"second half" of the game as the monarch, because it did nit feel like a "half", but a fraction

-F1's rent system: tat way you are less likely to have your pocket over flowing with gold

- improvement of the sanctuary *puts flame shield on and runs*

Fable1 was my favorite one so I would prefer it to be similar to that.

First off, I think there should be a way to change difficulty levels (like how Oblivion and Fallout does it). I would like it to have more quests (and have it similar to Fable1's way of giving out quests) but since Fable is almost all combat, it would be difficult to make a huge variety of quests.

I don't think we should go any closer to the present day environment. Anything more recent would turn Fable into a third person shooter.

And more RPG elements.

Less obnoxious silly pantomiming and more genuine role-playing and depth for one.

Personally however I'd prefer if Molyneux worked on something else for a bit, get some time to clear his head of Fable and to do other things. Black & White 3 for example, that would be fun! That series is long overdue for another glimpse and I've always been fond of it.

I never bought Fable III, because I hated Fable II so much. Fable III looked like it didn't fix any of the things I hated about the second game, and added a bunch more problems too.

But I have had some ideas about where they could go for the future of the series. I really didn't like how they made such a huge leap in time after the first game. It took away so much about the original I loved. They seemed to all but destroy the lore of the first, and they took out all the cool armour and weapons. And I was never a fan of guns. I would really love if they went in the opposite direction for another Fable game, back to the time of Archon. There's so much mystery in the lore around that time that I think really deserves exploration. And it would make sense in the series' lore to make improvements in the game while going so far back in time, because they had a far deeper understanding of magic in that time. There is a world of possibilities. That along with just generally bringing the aesthetic of the games closer to that of the first would be great. Also get rid of the bloody dog and the bread crumb trail thing. I hated that. The game's controls REALLY need tightening up too. Generally everything could see improvement. But those are the big ones in my opinion.

Pretty much this, but also make death possible. I hate it when dying is a just a small inconvenience and it's barely even that. Make dying actually mean something. There isn't any strategy when it's impossible to fail.

The game always felt like it wanted to be taken serious, but then went on with some childish humour. And then some adult but still childish humour.
It's like it doesn't really know what kind of audience it wants, like a kid's show making a joke about sex only the parents watching with their kids would understand.

Don't instantly condemn us for choosing the good path.
And make more humour from Britland.

Dear Peter Molyneux:

- don't promise things you can't deliver
- DON'T promise things you can't deliver
- really now, DON'T PROMISE THINGS YOU CAN'T DELIVER!

It's pretty much become a running gag with the guy.

They might as well continue on the path that started with Fable 2, as fans of the first game have already been alienated. OK, hyperbole alert on that. I know some fans of the first have stuck around, but I can't imagine there are relatively that many. Do they have stats on that? I'd like to see them.

But I feel they picked up a different audience with Fable 2 and 3. Lionhead might as well just keep pleasing that audience. No need to go pissing everyone off.

I know what Molyneux can do.

He can bury this series. The Fable series has never lived up to any of its promises or expectations and continues to disappoint today.

So grab the shotgun and a shovel; it's time to take the poor dog out back.

Fable 3 failed as a sequel? Are you seriously suggesting it was worse than the second? Aside from a stupidly obvious "twist", 3 actually managed to have a reasonably coherent story with an actual ending. If only so many of the decisions you made as ruler weren't such bullshit.

As for fable 4, I hope it never comes. They proved with the third that they weren't going anywhere with the lore so just let it die already. I can at least ignore journey and pretend it never happened. A fourth may well spoil the memories

Honestly? the second dlc of fable 3 was 10x times better then the main game. I had a blast playing through it and especially fell for the twist at the end and never saw it coming. And one spot actually had DIFFICULTY! *gasp* He just needs to do what he did with it.

It's sad when dlc is better then the main game. I can think of 3 which hardly anyone gives a chance due to main game dissapointment. Bioshock 2, fable 3 and the new duke nukem forever dlc. (It's actually good!)

if they want fable 4 to be good remove the king system cause i really disliked that part also the the point raised before f1 rent system as f2 felt too easy to make money f3 was like a stratagey game

Just a HD remake of Fable: The Lost Chapters, as he clearly can't do anything new right.

as for something he himself could easily do: Step down.

Definitely a lot more side quests, a longer main quest, new types of weapons like spears and hand to hand, get rid of gauntlets but allow us to combine spells and ratchet up the difficulty.

Stay away from it?

Record him when he tell stories to his kids, send the tapes to competent game makers and maybe they can salvage this mess of a franchise.

Hope for the fans, that's what I bring. :$
