So, I was wondering if anyone could recommend some RPGs that play like Fable (the original one that is, not the piles of filth that were Fable 2/3).

I've never really heard of any, and I loved Fable, so I would like to play something a bit like it.

Thanks :)

I can't think of any, but something else by Lionhead Studios that was great, The Movies. Great fun, and you don't need to marry anyone, or have a dog.

Oh I miss Fable 1. Easily the best of the 3 Fable games in my opinion.

Erm...
Have you tried Jade Empire? That's not really that close, but it's the best I could think of.

Well, I will throw in Two Worlds 2 (which is actually more like Oblivion) but a 'decent' classic-setting RPG. It had some high praise, though personally I couldn't stand it.

On a better note- I vote Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga. It's Fable meet Oblivion. It is a cracking game, I'm loving it.

The Witcher, sort of. It has the choice thing (but the choices are oh-so-much more grey), and the one (well, two) button combat. Well worth buying if you have a PC.
Yeah, I tried The Witcher.

It's a bit like life, in that it has horrible gameplay.

O_O I think I'll just take my hat and leave.

GOOD DAY TO YOU SIR!
My opinion, and all that, thanks :p

But yeah, no, I thought the inventory screen was messy, the alchemy/level up system was convoluted, and the actual fighting system was just overall a bad idea.

I tried 'The Witcher', and to it's credit it kept me interested until Chapter 3 when a corrupt merchant who was supposed to meet for a chattette NEVER showed up, thus locking progress.

I'm trying to get re-invigorated gaming-wise and wonder if The Witcher is worth completing. Does it get better / more focussed beyond Chapter 3? (during which I rather lost track of my purpose).

I have 'Risen', 'Two Worlds 2', 'Gothic 4' and 'Dragon Age 2' rotting on my desktop, vying for my attention. Can't be bothered with any of them.

Actually, might finish Risen. Very worthy that one.

Wait wut? The inventory wasn't messy at all. It was exactly like every other game's inventory.
The alchemy thing was an integral part of gameplay on harder settings, and i think the alchemy part of the game was fine. What was wrong with it? I'd have liked the ingredients to be more like Oblivion's, with lots of choice rather than 1 of 5 different categories for all ingredients.
Don't see the problem with the level system, but i suppose the combat isn't for everyone. I liked it though.

Ta Ephraim.

I remember reading that it does get better, and it was already pretty good (if you could get over some superficial issues). Looking forward to Witcher 2. Might just wait for that :)
