Fable I or II?

Please note: this is NOT a Vs. thread. Which is why I'm not even going to bother adding a poll. I just need some input.

I've had Fable I for a while, and the other day, a friend gave me Fable II to play. I have a hero started on both and played each for about 2 hours. I don't feel like going through both of them, so my question is: Which should I play?

I like that there is more to do in Fable II, but I think I like the gameplay of Fable I better. I've heard people complain about Fable II, which is a big reason why I am asking this. I can't decide. Any suggestions?

I have the same general question. I had seen Fable 1 on the shelves at the local computer store, but I keep hearing that Fable 2 is better for unknown reasons - though I do not know if it is on the computer yet. I don't know if I should buy Fable 1 or wait out.

I'd probably go with fable 1. Fable 2 obviously has better graphics and sound and bloobidy bloodidy blah, but it really killed off a bunch of the things that made Fable 1 a fun game like ambiance and such. Also Fable 2 has a lot more area to roam but its has barely any variation at all.

I really enjoyed Fable, unexpectedly so. I kid you not, I actually went 360 over PS3 because I wanted to play Fable 2. It wasn't anywhere near as fun as the first one though IMO, while being almost exactly the same game. Can't quite put my finger on what left me cold, but left me cold it did...

i have played through both games and fable 1 is definetly the better of the 2 and here is why

1. you don't need a job to get money in fable 1.
2. fable 1 is a good 2-3 hours longer on the main quest
3. you are not made to listen to people talk crap all the time.
4. number 1 gives a half decent excuse for not being able to kill children.
5. your character does not always look like a twat
6. you do not get extremely fat from eating one pie
7. better boss fights.
8. most of fable 2's story line is far too borrowed from the 1st
9. alot more character customation in the 1st
10. missions are enjoyable rather than just boring
11. THE DOG IS CRAP

and for all these reasons you should play fable 1, but if you decide to play fable 2 rather than 1 don't let it cloud your thoughts of the first

They were both disappointing, the second even more so than the first. That said, if you're going to play one and not the other, I'd probably say go ahead and play the new one. Fable 2 was basically Fable 1 with a coat of paint (some of the story and quests are embarrassingly similar) so you'd might as well side with the shiny new graphics/features/etc.

Besides, I think the reason part 2 was such an outrage is because those of us who played the original and saw how much more/better it could have been were promised again and again that that's what we'd get with the sequel. It fell drastically short, but if you haven't got that preconception from the first game, then maybe (just maybe) the second one would actually be good.


Side note: we need to invent a new law called Petering, the punishment for which would be that we cut out your tongue so that you can't prattle on about the ideal game that you are never going to make.

I played only Fable 1 and on PC (and I own it, thanks to a Polish magazine that gave it for free), and I liked it a lot. It wasn't great, but it was decent enough to play once or twice.

i can tell you all right now that being EVIL in Fable 1 is a lot more cool then Fable 2 (it looks like forks standing out of his head)

It's pretty much the same game in terms of gameplay. I like the Fable 2 for the story which is really good. Plus with the 2 DLC packs that are out for Fable 2, it should last you a while. So I'd say Fable 2.

Fable 1 was awesome for it's time, but Fable 2 is a definate upgrade from it.

I love the dog.

But the dog does not make up for the lack of EPIC in Fable II. The biggest thing you fight is a troll. You fight what, three rock trolls in the main quest of Fable? That's not taking into consideration the giant bee, the boss-battles against Whisper, and the Hydra. Yeah. The sewer Hydra.

Fable II gave up a sewer Hydra for the dog.

The story arc is almost the same, too. "Oh, this is the part where I go away for 10 years and things may or may not change."

Personally I preferred the second one to the first, though I do like the whole Guild dealie in the first. I reckon you should finish em both.

fable 2 is much better. i played fable one for a while, and never got into it. it was just lacking something... but fable 2 is brilliant, i'm still messing about with it now after several weeks of playing.

They are both good games but one grip I can say with Fable 2:

If you decide to generalise into all three skill tree's and you play the female... Pre-pare for a chick that isn't fat... She just has so much bulk it looks as though she is fat (Same problem kinda applies to the Male but it just isn't as disturbing).

Although, Fable 1 has a few problems concerning time stop. Get it... GET IT NOW!
