I'm getting sick and tired of DLC and bastard microtransactions. Hell, does anyone remember when companies patched the game and put new features in? Now you have to PAY for those new features.

Brilliant. I'm not particularly keen on spending my real money to buy an ingame item, no matter how good it may be - also, any chance this may break any kind of immersion slightly. Having a game like Fable ask you for real money will soon remind you of the terrible outside world that you're trying to forget about.

Just remember, even though you will have spent your own money for the items ingame, you will need to buy them again if you want your 360 avatar to have them as well.

Paying a small fee, usually less than $2, to get access features in the game.

The general theme with micro transaction games is that whilst one transaction doesn't cost much, to actually get a decent level of equipment/customisation or to unlock all the content works out as much more expensive than buying a game at retail.

It sucks but it's getting more common because people are too stupid to not pay.

Was wondering that myself until just now. It is essentially over game content such as new clothes and such for a price. You see Fable II's list on X-Box Live? That is microtransaction. This is getting ridiculous now though, games are becoming more and more half finished products with downloadable crap at top dollar prices. Not to mention the constant online approach.

Sigh I miss the old retro masterpieces especially the RPGs.

Edit: Bah, ninja'd. Also forgot to say Fable III can go die in a fire unless they do something to make it worth the purchase. Fable II was a significant letdown even if entertaining.

Natal and it may have microtransactions? I really liked Fable 2 despite its flaws, but this is really pushing it. I won't buy it if it has microtransactions... This news and since I just found out about Natal have just put Fable 3 at the very bottom of my "want to buy" list.

Honestly, who really cares? If people want to get swindled out of their hard earned money by removing challenge from the game, let them. If you don't like it, don't use it, it hardly makes the game worse. The only time complaining about this shit is justifiable is when it fucks the online balancing in mulitplayer games.

And also, the amount of bandwagon jumping about Natal is incredible. You know nothing about how it will be used, or even if it is 100% confirmed in Fable 3 (it isn't, although they are looking at it), so how do you know if it will be shit? Oh that's right, because bashing motion control is kewl!

I think the industry is starting to see a backlash from this though... Rock Band downloads have slowed down, and NHL 10 got a severe beating in the press for making equipment available that improved your player through micro-transactions. The result was that within two days of the game coming out there were a bunch of rich assholes with golden skates that could skate 10 km/h faster than you, thus winning every game they played, ruining the online experience for pretty much everyone else.

This will not last long if we keep putting up resistance to it. The music games were one of the first to have real success with the business model, but I think it makes a bit more sense there. Each track has to be licensed and converted to the Rock Band format, which takes time and effort. I wish they were a little cheaper, but if there's a song on there I want badly enough I'll buy it.

But there is no way in hell I will fork out some extra cash just for in-game items. I will sometimes pre-order a game, at the regular price, if it means I get something extra, or get a limited edition version if I like the perks enough, but this nickel and dime stuff will go away soon enough. I don't know many people who've bought stuff for their XBox Live avatars.

Quoted for taking the words out of my mouth.

Instead of complaining about it, just don't use it. So what if you miss out on some super powered weaponry and clothing? You'd probably ***** about it anyway when you use, saying it breaks the game or it is useless.

is where they charge you real money for in game content, like you are playing an MMO and its free, but for the real cool stuff like mounts, super spells, super potions etc you have to buy it in the web store

its the means to keep the game free, but also make for an inmense distinction among players that are willing to pay, and players that are not

in fable it would be just for making money seing that you are already paying for the internet service and its stuff you can get playing the game itself.
