I have to ask you guys this one question. In your personal opinion, is Fable The Lost Chapters a good game despite it being an Action RPG?

Um...aren't all the Fable games action RPGs? So, it would be about as good as all the other fable games.
Personally I'm not a fan, the combat bores me, and the dialogue always sounds like it was written by a 6 year old. I get REALLY tired of hearing the word "Hero" uttered every 14 seconds.

I'm suspicious of this thread.
Not least of all because the implications of the OP seem to be that action-RPGs are incapable of being good games.
I'd say it's more likely that it's a good game despite everything Molyneux promised that didn't actually end up in the final game, or didn't end up implemented the way he said it would be.
So... yes, I think it was a good game, "despite" being an ARPG.

While it's true Lost Chapters, 2 and, 3 are Action RPGs, they handle differently enough to each other. Granted, Fable 2 was basically Fable on easy mode. Fable 3 however was an outright train-wreck.Dirty Hipsters said:

Well it's the best Fable of the series by far. Although my opinions on Fable 2 & 3 were never high to begin with.
I enjoyed the first Fable back on the original Xbox, despite the simplisitc combat it was fun because most RPGs still had turn based or auto attack based combat. The slight childishness had its own charm I think too, you characters appearance and peoples reaction to your character was a nice touch as well. For me it slotted in with Morrowind, KoToR, Jade Empire and the other great Xbox RPGs just fine on its own merits.
I was lucky though, I never knew what kind of game Peter Molyneux was promising. I never had the internet and never really bothered with gaming magazines, if I had been expecting everything he said Fable was going to be I would be in the camp with everyone else thinking it was disappointing.

It's not a good game, it's a great game. I love The Lost Chapters, it's my favourite game in the series.
I bought it about 2 years after it was released, so I missed all of the hype and Didn't really know about Molyneuxs promises. I think this allowed me to really enjoy the game as I had no expectations of it being something it wasn't.
It's a bit immature but I must have completed it a half dozen times or more, so I'd have to say it might not have been the most technically proficient or well designed game, it was certainly enjoyable.

What's bad about Action RPGs? I played it on PC and enjoyed it very much.
I think developers should say as little as possible about their game when it's in its early stages.
Me too. I later wanted to discuss it on forums, only to find out that many people were disappointed because it didn't have many promised features, while I really liked the features that were in the game and didn't care about those that didn't make it because I wasn't aware of them.Ilikemilkshake said:

Fable in general is a fun series, all the game I found were charming and entertaining on the first playthrough but take a step back or on later playthroughs and I find that the games are shallower than expected. Also, it's been 3 (4 if you count the kinect spin-off thing) and we still can't play as a black character. I mean, wtf. Combat's always been quite simple but a little too simple. I guess the charm is in the narrative, artwork and characters.
It's fairly enjoyable, a whole deal actually. I was frustrated by how awful the main character looks, especially since the female ones looks pretty decent. In the end my current playthrough he is a sith-esque sword weilding spellcaster, with leather armour and plate helmet. Bisexual crossdresser in his free time.

I pick up a new weapon, cool, I press "I" for inventory *nothing happens*. In order to try out the new weapon I have to press "esc", then use the mouse to click "inentory", "weapons", "melee weapons" "the new weapon", "equip", then press back all the steps with the freaking mouse.
That game was not properly adapted to the PC.

I loved Fable the lost chapters, bought it on steam recently. Part 2 was okay, but in my opinion, part 3 was kind of ridiculous. They announced a part 4, I hope it's going to be better than 3. The good thing about part 3 were the details of the quests, and the interface, but the difficulty and plotline were awful.
