Played it expecting it to be utter shite (on PC). Then played it again like 4 more times.
It's pretty god damn fun, I'd say.
this.

for some odd reason, the first game hit the sweet spot of silliness vs rpg'ness, and i ended up replaying the game 4-5 times myself, enjoying it each time.

the 2nd one was kinda crappy though, and don't even get me started on the third one...

It's not a good game, it's a great game. I love The Lost Chapters, it's my favourite game in the series.
Too be fair, in my opinion, not a hard thing to do with the way Fable 3 played.
As for Two, it had its moments for me but was disappointing over all.
None of them beat the fun I had with the original and still have Lost chapters.

I've always liked Fable TLC. It's a charming and whimsical game with a great soundtrack. It doesn't hold any records in my book, but it's simply enjoyable to play once in a while.

Honestly? For it's time it was an amazingly fun game to play for the Xbox, in fact its one of the only 4 games I kept for the original Xbox when I got rid of all my old games (The others being Blood Omen 2 (I had defiance but it was a glitched unbeatable copy) and Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders and Heroes. It may not be a great game by today's standards... and nothing is more annoying in that game than the Guildmaster constantly talking to you when you're out doing stuff, but I won't ever get rid of it cuz I just love it so much.... From what I understand do your best to find the original Xbox version, or find some way to mod/respec the controls on PC, I've never played it on PC but I've heard they suck balls.

I really enjoyed Fable: The Lost Chapters. I ended up playing it a few times. Fairly disappointed in 2 and 3, Fable 2 especially.

Erm, "good" by what standards? I really like the game but whether or not I can call it good depends on what one means by it. I find it really charming and pleasurable to play and explore. I play it roughly every year and a half (or, in other words, each year except when I skip one). But I can still criticise many aspects of it...assuming that's needed - when I play, they don't pay much attention to the broken parts, so meh.

I played the game for about 4 hours then stopped playing. The voice acting is terrible and the main protagonist is unlikaeble.
Yeah, likewise... combat was a pain in the arse and I just felt as though I was trying to move a pile of bricks with limbs. Then again, maybe it's because I played the PC version... (wait, wasn't the PC version the 'Lost Chapters' release... it's been so long, I've managed to purge it from my mind... -.- )

It was a helluva lot more patronising (dialogue as well as tutorials) than most other games as well...

I consider it to be a good and fun game. Is it amazing or revolutionary? Nope. Does it rank as one of my favourite games ever? Nope. However, I was thoroughly entertained when I played it many years ago. Oh and there is nothing wrong with action RPGs despite the OP's implications.

It's my second-favourite game on the original Xbox. Seriously, don't let Fable 2 or 3 fool you. The first game is so good. Particularly TLC. But then, I never had any of the pre-release Molyhype, so I don't have the reason to hate it that a lot of people do.

It's also one of those games that never seems to get tired no matter how many times you replay it. If you like the game, anyway.

If you didn't give in to the ol Peter M "hype machine" before the game was released, then it is a great game.

Fable: The Lost Chapters is a must though, as the original fable was a bit too short, which was a tad disappointing. Luckily Peter thought so too, and added extra quests, and new locations to explore (mostly end game content), so there's really no reason to play the inferior version.

With regards to the other games in the series, Fable 2 was average/mediocre to me, and Fable 3...well less said about it the better to be honest. It's not just bad, but offensively bad.

It is my favourite game of all time, it was made before Peter Molyneux believed that childrens humour and simple controls were the things carrying the series. Also, it has a pimp hat.

What's bad about Action RPGs? I played it on PC and enjoyed it very much.

I bought it about 2 years after it was released, so I missed all of the hype and Didn't really know about Molyneuxs promises. I think this allowed me to really enjoy the game as I had no expectations of it being something it wasn't.
Me too. I later wanted to discuss it on forums, only to find out that many people were disappointed because it didn't have many promised features, while I really liked the features that were in the game and didn't care about those that didn't make it because I wasn't aware of them.

I think developers should say as little as possible about their game when it's in its early stages.
For the sake of user enjoyment and avoiding disappointment I agree that devs probably shouldn't say much during development (or early development). Unfortunately this won't happen because then people can't hype up their games and generate a tonne of pre-orders.

I had to take a step back and remember that Fable 3 came out three years ago. And it's still $50 on Steam, what the shit.

Fable has been a solid but mediocre game. There are these great environments, but they feel lifeless. There are these huge casts of people, but they're unnecessary. There is this rather fresh combat, but it's rather spaced out in story and not that challenging. There is character choices, but they are pretty weak. There is customization, but it takes way too much time to get the good stuff.

It's worth $10, maybe $15 or more per game. It is lengthy, it can be spaced out with sidequests and character interactions, but I never had a desire to do anything other than the main quest and call the game over.

Just not my game, probably because I was expecting a game similar to Oblivion.

Was just replaying it the other day.

Holds up pretty well, even if it kept freezing and glitching because i was playing it on 360.

It's not particularly clever or impressive or revolutionary but it's pretty damn fun.

I remember solidly enjoying the original back when it first came out. I was only a little miffed that the ultimate badass evil weapon only came about AFTER beating the game. I think probably the coolest thing was the whole jailhouse part towards the end, and I don't think I've seen a game do incareration that well aside from Mafia II.

It also had the most memorable moral choices, I think. Killing Whisper in cold blood? Ice Cold ************.

Um...aren't all the Fable games action RPGs? So, it would be about as good as all the other fable games.

Personally I'm not a fan, the combat bores me, and the dialogue always sounds like it was written by a 6 year old. I get REALLY tired of hearing the word "Hero" uttered every 14 seconds.
"hero your health is low do you have any potions or food?" I don't think that phrase will ever leave my head
I liked it but I was a kid then

Lost Chapters is the only Fable game worth playing. Y'know, because they'd finished making it and didn't release a half-finished obvious beta full of bugs and glitches like Fable 2. I totally forgot Fable 3 was even a thing.
