I'm playing Fable 2 currently and there is nothing that draws me back to the game to play it or discover more. It is all so "twee". Either the origional ideas all got focus-grouped to death or they actual ideas he had at the begining just were very tame and middle of the road.

The real problem with Fable is it would have been forgotten already if not for all the hype and PR, the game is totally forgetable

I thought fable 1 was amazing, fable 2 sucked so much I almost wanted to kill myself for buying that and not fallout 3

Yeah I always forget I have that game. It's not bad, I just think that a) there should me more storyline, b) better and more realistic (not brown and grey realistic, but face graphics etc) graphics, plus more gore rather than just enemies turning into blobs of pixie dust, and c) more character customisation, and YOU SHOULDN'T GET FAT!!!

Fable was meh, not good or bad, just meh.

Fable 2 didn't change a damn thing.

Don't expect Fables 3-5 to do much more in the revolution department. Plan to trade in my copy of Fable 2 at Gamestop later this week.
They didn't change a damn thing....WTF, are you serious? You could insult them on a lot of things, but they changed a lot more than it takes for it to be a big enough departure from the original.

Also, the next Fables need a lot of content! I mean an assload of weapons food and clothes, and an actually decent sized map. "10 size the size of fable1" Doesn't mean much when Fable one's map was barely the the size of the capital city in elder scrolls 4. Fable 2 might qualify to be the coast of cyrodil. Yes I know how much of a geek I sound like but oh my god.

Make it a bit better than oblivion. If they mixed the 2 together that would be awesome.
This, assuming they added more weapons!

I remember the original context that was said in and what Molyneux was trying to say, was that he know what sort of setting he'd have for the next 3 games, were he to make them.
Molyneux also recently said that he would change the genre for the next game as he doesn't want to keep making the same game.

Essentially, Molyneux talks a load of nonsense that isn't to be believed, don't pay any attention to anything he says.
Really, the things he say aren't all that insane if you just filter out the things that you know are wrong, like say " revolutionary one button combat" Done in devil may cry 3 and I think it's been done in the first 2, no one was more than 50% sure the dog was gonna be that good, and when he said the game was gonna have a great story you should've realized he's not a writer and what he judge's as a good story may be crap.

Also having a map 10 times the original isnt worth a damn if the majority is closed off to you for most of the game, in TES you can go anywhere from the start, true youll probably get eaten by some big bad maudcrab but thats not the point.

there needs to be big changes after fable 2 before i would think of buying 3. First and foremost imo is the combat, its so simple, plain, bland, boring and every other simile of these words combined...lvl 3 time lvl 4 raise dead lvl 3 time lvl 5 fire = win. i think the combat should be made more like dmc4, pop3 or assassins creed, still very simple in controls but entertaining to watch and go "yeah...i just did that awesome flip slicer thingy".

Another let down was how long you have to spend serving drinks, cutting wood or blacksmithing to get anywhere, i mean i know you have to start low and work your way up and i know that they cant just give you the money straight out but its just so repetitive and boring.

On a + note i liked having a dog.

OH and another big deal for me was being able to pick what your character looked like...in the end you had the evil guy/girl and the good guy/girl models and that was about it (unless you played multi player). One of my friends played a female character and quit as soon as she became less of a beautiful pure princess character and turned into a giant ugly hulking blue veined freak of nature.

Fable 2 is the same god damn game as Fable. Anyone else see the crazy simalarities? Especially the first quest when you are a child....

I don't think the series would get to 5 titles. I suspect one more,if its not brilliant and sells a lot, they'll drop it.
Fable 1 and II sold fuckloads. It was a worldwide sucess.

And on that note, of course they will. They'll milk it for all it's good for. Plus, when you look past whats wrong with Fable I and Fable II they're actually good games. Maybe if Petey altered it to take away the bad...

Thats sort of the point. You'd have to read into it further, but it's to do with the bloodlines, and the path each hero must take to become the hero of their region. For instance, Fable II's Hero of Bowerstone is Fable I's Hero of Oakvale's descendant, who wielded the Sword of Aeons (if the ingame book is anything to go by, but either way he definately died in the house behind Oakfield's Demon Door, and supposedly raised a family, much like the Hero of Bowerstone can do).

Anyway, the point of childhood is to kill off the Hero's family, so they can progress.

i heard a rumor recently that peter molyneux in all his infinite wisdom, is planning to release 3 more fable games, i dunno about you guys but i was severely dissapointed with fable 2 ,the story was criminally short and the controls seemed a bit, i dunno, stodgy, what changes would you make to the new fable games (assuming there is 3 more to come) and do you think 5 fable games will be overkill, or a glorious tribute to an amazing series
Heres the link if you wanna read more

The original Fable was a great game because it mixed good gameplay with fantasy, a very British atmosphere and some dark storyline.

Fable 2 made a complete hash of it, it downgraded the gameplay for casual users and was graphically and aesthetically weak, the story was a poor rehash and incredibly short.

I'm sure he wants to do five, but I doubt they'll sell well enough to justify it.
Agreed.

Fable was an interesting step, Fable 2 was ... well... more interesting steps with typical mistakes like anything else. And a dog.

Maybe they'll suprise us, who knows.

Maybe let the Fable series die and put more energy into this new project you're hyping up, Peter. Then we might get one good game rather than four mediocre ones.

Kill the dog and give me back my mini map. Get a better plot, Fable was decent, fable 2 was pretty awful. I want my fishing back. Make the characters more interesting, less cliches, more likable. Oh yeah and don't try to hype it up at all, you screwed it up once.

No.

But I agree with the rest of what you were saying. And as for your last paragraph, I played a good-aligned male character, and with the most attractive equipment, I looked like a tosser. Not to mention the fact that no matter how good your alignment is, your face will always be a few degrees short of looking like an actual man's, let alone handsome.

Or the TV series Lost, when the script writers admitted they had 7 series worth of scripts it stopped me watching.

This was a well known fact from before the pilot was leaked on the interwebs.

And funny enough; they are only making six seasons afterall.
