a rate that exceeds any other pirated game in history, and is well on its way to becoming the most pirated game ever on BitTorrent.
So it's already the most pirated game in history, but not the most pirated game on BitTorrent? o_O Thems be some freaky maths, considering I thought Spore was only pirated via BitTorrent, and if it's the most pirated game in history and only acquired via BitTorrent, surely it's the most pirated game ever on BitTorrent?

It's 1AM and my logic may be somewhat skewed, so can someone correct/confirm my ideas?
Your logic fails at the misconception that all games are pirated over Bittorrent. It can be the most pirated game in the history of the world and still not be the most pirated on bittorrent. Pirates use other means to distribute. Just thought I'd help you out there. :)

Molyneux : We have a pirate-proof system.
Pirates : Yarrr...we broke it.
Molyneux : OH NOES! IT'S IN TATTERZ!

Grief...seriously, what did you expect?

lol, this is old news - Molyneux has been preaching about how "PC is teh suck and only blizzard and sims is what it's useful for. 360 ftw!" for the longest time.

I remember one article he actually said it "makes me a sad panda."

Peter Molyneux, I'd like you to meet a couple of people. Brad Wardell, Johan Andersson, this is Pete. He thinks PC gaming is dead and DRM is the answer to bring it back.

OK guys, stop laughing, you're hurting poor Petey's feelings. I mean, Stardock and Paradox are just over his head, so go easy on him.

Wait, when has Molyneux ever talked about having a pirate-proof system?
That's what the DRM is supposed to be.
True, but he never said he used or was using it. He just said that DRM is good in theory, but in practice, he loathes copy-protection as a gamer.

Oh hey, another washed up developer who masturbates to pictures of himself blaming pirates for why jaded gamers aren't buying the industry's bullshit.

Right, so business as usual then eh?

Did you read the article fully? He said that while the fact that the PC gaming industry looks good to develop for due to the DRM measures available, in the end it's just screwing over the gamers, because the restrictions are too great.

Not entirely. Look beyond what is being printed. Yes, hooray for him, he hates dealing with the DRM.

However by saying that the PC industry needs the DRM in order to 'inspire confidence' in the publishers he's completely ignoring the real reason of the lackluster sales which are leading to less games being made. Rather than taking his 15 minutes on his public soapbox and calling out the industry out on its crappy practices, he's instead saying that the industry needs DRM so that they can be confident to just keep throwing more crap at us. He's ignoring just how much DRM drives people to piracy in order to get a game that works.

He hates typing in a CD Key, but getting a game that only works three times is ok?

Obviously... I mean, if you have a CD key, it could get lost or worn and faded, but if you have limited installs, it means that you won't have the game long enough to worry about that. It all makes perfect sense.

So is he leading up to that he will soon lecture that Fable 2 can save the PC market or is that a sign that there is no Fable 2 for PC.

Good question. One the one hand, you have his morals, and on the other, you have money... yeh, it's definitely gonna mean we'll see Fable 2 on the PC.

It's most likely gonna be that the game will be released onto the platform, it's not going to sell too well (for a myriad of reasons, like it being released on a console for some time, not much interest, these words coming to bite him in the ass), prompting the man to decry the platform and blame the whole thing on piracy.

Arr.

By the way, let's show the world how inept PC sales are counted vs console game sales.

PC Sales - # of units moved in physical stores.
Console Sales - Units moved in physical stores and online sales.

Seems to be a bit off there. Basically they're being retarded by only counting sales in stores, and not counting online sales from websites where you are mailed a copy of the game, or can do direct to download sales. Yes, it's amazingly idiotic. Congratulations, it's 2008, not 1992. Upgrade your sales figures to represent all kinds of sales, and you will find out that you've made more money than you thought.

Probably the latter. This is a set up basically saying, 'hey, you gamers! Abandon the PC while its not too late! Go and buy a 360! And buy Fable 2 whilst you're there!'

Hell, I am.

Fully agreed, but let's face it, due to the industry spitting out tons of shovelware, they're shooting themselves in the foot. Capcom tries to shovel us DMC 4 (granted, they did a great job on the port, but come on, your average gamer would never buy this for PC) and then blame piracey. Crytek tries to dump Crysis on us and then wonders why no one wants to buy a game that runs like dick on your average PC.

Molyneaux is also a developer who can't seem to deliver on anything he promises, and everything he touches turns to sub par.
