I don't know why all the hate - American Pie is perhaps the only example in the entire teen movie genre thats actually quite funny. 2 suffered by being more of the same and 3 was fairly painful, but the original was pretty sound.

I kind of though that myself...now, I did find the first film to be quite amusing, though given that I was actually part of the target audience then, I suppose that's to be expected. The 2nd film in the series was the last one I ever watched, however. Seeing that most of the recent ones have just been straight to DVD fodder, I've ignored them. Not that I'd be interested even if they were on in the cinema.

Never bothered watching it. It looked stupid and I just didn't want to kill my brain cells in the process.

the new ones better than beta house, but no where near as good as the first three, but all are shit compared to fired up the god of teen comedy's :)

Ever since American Pie first made millions of dollars, every subsequent sequel (I need to learn how to speak) has been a cash cow and little else. Numero Uno did make my 19-year-old ass laugh although it was trite, two was a complete throwaway and ditto for 3 - except the dance-off in the gay club. Everyone wants the Stiffmeister, indeed.

I never had any interest in these straight to video releases. If you haven't noticed yet, movie sequels that never see the inside of a theater and feature few to none of the original cast have very little to do with their source material. They're churned out to fill contractual obligations on franchises that have run out of steam, or because some idiot suit green-lit them in bad taste before it was realized they would flop at the box office.

In other words, these are to be avoided like the plague.

They died as soon as the trilogy ended. I loved all three films in the main series. As soon as they released any of the spin-offs, that was the end. Although I notice Eugene Levy seems to have a role in pretty much every single film, including the spinoffs. I guess that's just his bad luck that he needs those jobs or else he's out of work for good in Hollywood...

There's a new one?

Damn those movies need to go away. The first one wasn't even good. Why the hell do they keep making more?

I think it died when it was created. They were the most horrendous excuses for movies I have ever had the misfortune to watch.
Meet the Spartans. It's no where near the most horrendous excuse for a movie. The new ones are bad, really bad. But the first couple were funny with a few friends. However, there is a lot worse out there in my mind then this.

I only saw the first one, and I thought it was OK.

But judging by how all of the new ones are direct to video, that should be some indication that it's really only about DEM BEWBS

American Pie: some guy fucks a pie, shannon elizabeth doesn't go full frontal nude and alyson hanigan makes me want to be a flute. Did I miss anything?
