I use it as my own personal forum of sorts. It's nice to be able to post a status update asking for opinions, advice, etc. on topics I'm interested in. I also use it to show people videos of stuff that I've done that is awesome (ie: radio shows I've hosted, martial arts competitions, etc.). That, and it's pretty much my sole method of communication for everyone I don't see at work or the gym, seeing as how 99% of the time, everyone else lives too far away or has work schedules that conflict with mine.
Pretty much this. Also, blaming facebook for people posting mundane status updates and other stupid shit is like blaming violent video games for stupid people playing them and committing violent crimes. Oh, and facebook is an excellent tool for police to use to hunt down stupid criminals. I heard this news story where some dumb criminal posted that he thought he was going to get away with some crime on someone else's wall. Some anonymous third party showed that post to the police, who hauled the sucker's ass off to jail.smithy_2045 said:It's another medium through which you can communicate with friends, family, acquaintances, etc. If you're sick of people posting crap on facebook, defriend them. You control whose posts you see.
