Ever make threads that get no responses? I did yesterday. Meh.

What do you think usually sink the quickest on this site?

I think threads without crazy exciting titles tend to do poorer but whatever.

I've had a few reviews not get any responses. Including my <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.318828-2-50-Reviews-The-Fog-1980>latest one. (As of the time of this post. I make no guarantees after the time you see to your left.)

It happens sometimes. Not fun, but nothing much you can do about it. It's almost random, although having something controversial almost guarantees success. Or a lock.

I epic failed my first thread. Haven't made one since.

you know what would make your thread a hit? Put "ponies" or "bronies" in the title.
That outta attract some sort of crowd, which will eventually become a flame war.

EDIT: on that note, a surefire thread hit is just to make an OP that is flame-bait. But that's generally frowned upon...

Should I edit it into the title?

it would certainly cause a bit of confusion

Well, lets see what happens then.

Only if you want a flame war. I can speak from personal experience that even the most well-meaning pony thread will be flooded with haters very shortly.

Once I made a thread that took me about an hour to think of and put lots of effort and thought into it. It only had about 200 views total, and around 12 responses. That's it! I'm making more threads that will guarantee me a Forum Inferno badge!

The word "ponies" in the title can't possibly generate that much traffic/hate automatically... Can it?

Yeah, I posted a thread about last night, put a lot of time into the post, then posted.... waited..... waited.

Next day:

ME: "DERP DIDDY DERP, LET'S GO ON THE ESCAPIST!"
*Clicky*
ME: "I WONDER IF ANYONE REPLIED!"
the Escapist: "No one posted on your thread. You are a loser, you stupid loner." (In a robot voice)
ME: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" (In a Darth Vader voice XD)

It was about getting started in DnD, and also for the lulz, funny DnD stories.

EDIT:

HOLY SHIT!

What is this?

Forged in God's very flames!

Do mine eyes, tell me lies?

A new Bronie Thread?

EDIT:

Friendship bunker?

Oh noes....

It's the ponies.... always... the ponies....

I don't think anyone's ever tried this before, so I suppose we'll find out together.

...I'll prepare the Friendship Bunker.

Someone else did a "Funny DnD stories" thread recently, so your thread may not have had much of a chance.

It happens to the best of us. My earlier Escapist career (if you could call it that) was full of threads that only got about a dozen posts before being tossed into the basement.

Oh nah, it wasn't about the funny DnD, it was actually about getting started in DnD, you know, joining a group (The title was "Getting started in DnD") and at the end I was like, what the hell, any funny stories

Most of my threads have been failures, never getting more than 10-15 responses if that many. Which is a shame because I don't make threads often, and when I do I usually put a lot of thought into it.
