Fake endings in games, do they just annoy the hell out of you? or renew your intrest in the game?

Personally, I thought the "fake ending" that the OP mentioned in BioShock was one of the better plot twists in gaming history.

I guess it really depends on whether or not you're just anxious for a game to end. If that's the case, stop playing: you're apparently not enjoying yourself.

As for me, if I'm enjoying a game and they pull a "guess what, there's even more game" move then I'm thinking, "awesome! More game for me!"

Does not realising a game has another disk count?

I have to vote Gears of War, which has 100000 fake endings, Resonator's our days...

Stalker was good, 7 endings, 5 of which were fake, but all worth watching. The fake ending you got depended on how you played within the game. If you have over 500000 roubles , you ask to be rich, if you kill both faction leaders then you ask for power. They are quite well done and depite the fact that they all end badly, are worth the ride.
Also the 2 true endings are fairly good. With the oblivon lost mod you can play on after the game ends if you choose to destory the thing in the middle (im not going to ruin it)

Dark Messiah was also good, 1st person statue impalement rocks! + the 4 endings you can choose from, all of whihc are true

I think it depends a lot on the game and how the fake ending is made. Some fake endings are actually rather good and don't feel cheap, and you like it because you have an excuse to keep playing the game. Although, I do dislike the fake endings the creators were so fond of in the older Final Fantasy games. Ok, the first fake ending can be good measure, but when you get two or more fake endings PER GAME, enthusiasm begins to wane and you just put the game aside without finishing it.

It really depends on how they're done. Two series that are really over the top about it are Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid. It gets to a point when you're just rolling your eyes and waiting for the unnecessary plot-extending twist to come along that reveals the super ultimate bad guy who's really been waiting in the shadows while you kill off slightly less super ultimate bad guy.
