Alright, I don't think I've ever told this to anyone before, maybe because I wiped it from my memory, but I want to know if anyone has had something like this happen to them.

It was 6th grade, I believe, and I had just gotten a SNES for my birthday. I was telling the kids on the bus about it, and one of the older kids chimed in with "Dude, there's a code to unlock EVERY GAME!". Of course I was enthralled by this, and asked him what it was.

He proceeded to write down a whole page full of button combinations and machinations, sequences semmed to go on for ages. I was PUMPED to get home that day, man.

So, I get home, start up the SNES (with no game in it, because that's how you had to do it apparantly), and entered in the whole page of code, with a final push of the start button that was supposed to send me spiraling into gaming heaven. Man, I was a stupid, naive kid. As embarassing as that is to tell, I'm sure someone else has believed some wacky code or secret told to them by someone only to find out that it was bunk. Or am I the only one?

EDIT: And I know some of y'all tried to bring back Aeris. Don't be ashamed.

A friend once told me that in order to get Pikablu in Pokemon R/B you had to raise six Pikachus to level 100, without using Rare Candies, and then talk to Oak. Needless to say, I was in the Dean of Discipline's office a week later.

Also, inb4 THAT TRUCK.

I fell afoul of the Zelda Ocarina of Time Triforce rumours when they first started up, causing me to delete all my saves and try ridiculous game runthroughs. Positive side is I got really good at the first three dungeons!

I'm sure there'll be stories of the Mario 64 "Luigi code" and the like.

That "catch Mew in Pokemon Red/Blue by moving that truck" glitch.

Of course, the true way of getting Mew is a lot weirder and can be used to catch almost any pokemon of any level.(a TAS I saw of Blue used the glitch to catch a Gyarados before that fossil guy in the first cave)

1. Mew can be found in a truck on the docks in Cerulean city
2. If you hold down select, start, and A, you can get Donphan in Pokemon yellow. (Resets Gameboy)
3. If you use the itemfinder in the Cerulean city gym you'll find a hidden button on the wall. This button floods the gym and eventually the entire city. You get Pikablue.
4. If you beat the elite 4 100 times without healing, you get TM Volcano, the best attack in the game.

In Halo 2 I was playing a game of Big Team CTF on Containment (the DLC snowy map with the huge bases). A guy on my team holding the game winning flag had brought it to our base and said "I must show you the secret of the flag!" and proceeded to place the flag in an inaccessible area. Flags didn't reset by the way, needless to say he received a bad review.

My fave had to be the cow level in diablo 1 XD good times!!

and the fact that the game designers knew about it and made a refrence in Diablo 2 is pure gold!! and the starcraft cheat "there is no cow level". Things like this make me happy :)

I think I tried most of those fake Pokemon R/B ones.

I never got the chance to try getting Akuma in Resident Evil 2.

You know Pikablu was actually supposed to be Marill, right?
