A friend once told me if you got a hundred hours on Pokemon crystal it would erase your game lol. I can't believe I believed him for a while.
That's sort of true. If you have a copy that's five years old you can't save your game anymore because the internal clock screws up or something.

I heard loads of Pokemon "secrets" in school. People were saying things about the 'Black Charizard', a 'Golden Garydos' and how to get pokemon eggs to have attacks.

Adding to the pokemon, I was always told that holding down B while attacking increases your chance for a critical hit.
The bad part is that it's become an uncontrolable thing that when I play pokemon I hold down the B button and dont realize I'm doing it >.<

If you trade a Raichu for a Raichu with a friend in R/B you'll enter a battle with Mew after you leave the Poke Center.

man, that one was so logical the first time you hear it... oddly if you trade 3 of the same pokemon for the same 3 you get a random legendary pokemon thats level 5. again pokemon was evil, i blame ash! (not evil dead's ash either)

edit: also alt+f4 and f10 give you hacks and porn in CS:S

You mean you never found Ratman?

That pressing B alot will let you catch the pokemon more easily when you throw the ball.
It's A+B+Down, you fool!

There are so many in Pokemon. All the unexplained myths and legends and unavailable Pokemon in the later games don't do anything to help this.
I think Pokemon has so many of these because it has a young fanbase, and the internet was not a viable tool to receive confirmation of rumors back in the old days.

I fell afoul of the Zelda Ocarina of Time Triforce rumours when they first started up, causing me to delete all my saves and try ridiculous game runthroughs. Positive side is I got really good at the first three dungeons!

I'm sure there'll be stories of the Mario 64 "Luigi code" and the like.
Welcome to the Escapist!

I was playing Liberty City on a friend's 360, flying a helicopter. I was a fairly unfamiliar with the controls; I don't have a 360 and it was the first time I'd played GTA on one. He told me that you get a boost if you hit the Y button... I can't BELIEVE I fell for it.

(Y is Enter/Exit vehicle, btw).

or 100 hours in Red/Blue version would bring back the SS Anne. Actually, did that happen? I never actually stuck around to find out.
