Admititly, I fell for the "Gotcha!" trick for the pokemon pearl and diamond game.

What trick?

Sopposedly, if you said "Gotcha!" into the mic when you were catching a pokemon, it would increase chances.

I spent 3 hours inside the Subways Liberty City looking for Ratman. I got hit by 3 trains and found 5 hobos non of them Ratman.

Did you kill the hobos?

Actually yes....It's extremly wierd when a cop cars magically spawn inside a train tunnel.

I was playing Liberty City on a friend's 360, flying a helicopter. I was a fairly unfamiliar with the controls; I don't have a 360 and it was the first time I'd played GTA on one. He told me that you get a boost if you hit the Y button... I can't BELIEVE I fell for it.

(Y is Enter/Exit vehicle, btw).

My brother told me in gta San Andreas, that if you fly south east in the ocean for 20 minutes you can travel to vice city. I still believed him even after 20 minutes.

That's sort of true. There's a mission called 'Saint Mark's Bistro' in which you do visit Liberty City by flying for a long time in that direction, but it's mission based, you can't do it any time, and the only other way is (in theory) through the jetpack/Ganton Gym exploit.

I've fallen for the 'presing [insert button here] while catching pokemon to improve chances' too.

I think the one that annoys me the most is the people who keep falling for the San Andreas sequence of events that is supposed to let you see bigfoot or Leatherface.
Visit the Shady Cabin at midnight and set the 'Always Night' cheat on, then wait for the boat which will let you see Leatherface killing someone in the cabin, or something...
It doesn't work!

Why is there so much deception regarding Pokemon games? The Pokemon fanbase sounds vicious.

Its not that, its just that playing pokemon will make you belive that doing all these strange things will work.It doesn't help that most of us played it when we were young (or younger than now at least) and therefore stupid.

Personaly I fell for the Mew Truck trick, but could never be bothered to get a Machamp to level 100 so I didn't waste much time on it.

My friend once told me mashing A and B back and forth while capturing a Pokemon would increase the capture chance. While I have no proof of it's authenticity, I do it for every capture now.

That's sort of true. If you have a copy that's five years old you can't save your game anymore because the internal clock screws up or something.

The small battery in the game cartrige runs out. you can replace this if you want to continue playing

I heard loads of Pokemon "secrets" in school. People were saying things about the 'Black Charizard', a 'Golden Garydos' and how to get pokemon eggs to have attacks.

Havent heard anything about eggs with attacks but you can get a black charizard. Dont ask me how but its possible because a "shiney" charizard is black

And for the record, a shiney Gyarados is red. You can get this on gold silver and crystal if memory serves me right.

I too have fallen for the "Hold B to catch pokémon easier" trick. In fact, it's so much of a habit, now I do it without even thinking about doing it.

Also, I've fallen for the "Cancel evolution 13 times to get a shiny" trick. My poor Diglett.
