For the F2 experts here, is this a bug?

I am on my way back to Vault City from Broken Hills. I encountered a raider camp on the way and went in to kill a few radscorpions.

Problem is every time I go back to world map and leave the area it cuts immediately to the death screen.

Is this a bug or is there some reason I am dying? Is it because of scorpion poison or something?

Hmmm. Only thing I could think of would be if you have reached the game's time limit. I think it's supposed to stop after like 13 ingame years.

Edit: And have you tried resting for a day or so before leaving? Might change something, I don't know. But sometimes changing a few variables might do the trick, like your state, the time, which part of the exit area you use...

Yeah, its most likely damage taken from poison. Fallout 2 really is a game where you want multiple saves.

That fixed it. Thanks, didn't know resting could cure poison. This game is tough!

You know what...I'm just gonna play the original. This game sounds like more trouble than its worth.

It's really rewarding if you can be arsed....I remember when i realised where a water chip was in the first one, from this random hint from a traveling tinker, and i was like "I'm amazing! I'm easily the greatest detective the world has ever known"

This game just sounds really cheap to me. As in, cheap deaths. I don't mind a challenge when it's fair, though.

The 'i' in your itallic code is a capital, change 'em both to lower case for it to work. 'not being a git or anything. Just helping out.

On topic. Wait a day or two, then try again. Make sure you save it before you try anything new though.

Being poisoned and on low health and deciding to hit the road instead of resting is a cheap death? Mkay dude.

It's not cheap. You just need to pay attention to your statuses. And drug addictions, though the drugs can certainly help.

oh. Then I can totally do that. I misunderstood. I thought the game didn't give you an indication of poison.

Yeah, Jet totally messes you up. On the one hand, it turns you into a fighting machine with massive amounts of Action Points. Using that and Psycho, I wiped the floor with slavers in Den with both hands behind my back. But when I traveled, I turned into a total wreck. Even taking more Jet didn't help cure me. I was such a shell of a human being by the time I reached Reno. Very fun way to play though, nonetheless.

Dying from poison is hardly a cheap death. This game was made in a time where developers didn't think it was necessary to put in a big blinky window that says "Press x not to die! Press x not to die! Press x not to die!" every time you were five minutes away from death, because back then gamers didn't have the Internet to whine and ***** about how much they hate the game and how they are totally never ever gonna buy anything from that company again.

I already refuted that statement in another post.

I was under the impression that the game gave you NO NOTIFICATION whatsoever of poison.

Honestly, I'm finding it more fun than Fallout 1. It's a little more forgiving and gives you more scope for levelling before tackling the really tough baddies.

Then again, Fallout 1 kicked my ass, stole my lunch money and laughed at me.

Yeah I'm taking it slow and saving before every encounter. Save save save save....

I'm just about to get my car, so hopefully that will prevent me running into random encounters with gigantic lazer toting super soldiers at level 10...
