If you like upgrading weapons, check out WMK (Weapon Mod Kits). Not sure how far it has come since I was modding Fallout, but it added the ability to add attachments to all the vanilla weapons. There was talk of bringing it to other mods, but not sure now.

Hmm, this sounds good. I've already added "FOOK" and "FWE" which really changes the game into a new experience. But Is this mod compatible with FOOK and FWE? This mod you mention sounds pretty awesome, I'll check it out!

Okm thanks!

Compatibility is the big problem with the large scale mods. It should be kind of compatible. Meaning that the upgrades may not make the weapons any better, but worse! Depending on what FMK and FOOK have done to the vanilla weapons. You should check out the FOOK forums for info on the merging of anything with FOOK.

If you're going to get Fallout 3, make sure you get the game of the year edition... getting all of the DLC for an extra 10 bucks is EXCELLENT.

all I really have to say, it's a great game.

Great tips, thanks!
It's fantastic how great the game can turn out by applying some mods.

One question concerning the game: I've seen some screenshots of a person in an insect suit(?), is this from the "vanilla" game, or some mod? How do I obtain it?

It's in the vanilla game.

It's part of one of the quests, where you resolve a dispute between two "super heroes". To get the suit for yourself, you need to side with the Ant lady, or convince her to give it to you. If you side with her, or don't relinquish her suit to her enemy, then you don't get one of the unique laser pistols from her enemy.

Food for thought. Hopefully not too spoilerific.

Thanks, Altorin. Where do I get that quest?
I'm not so keen on using laser weapons, but I guess I have to rethink this option.

In the original Fallout-games, you progressivly had to change weapons from Small Arms, to Big Guns(against Super Mutants and such) and finally Laser Weapons(against Bots). Where do I get this quest, could you tell me, Altorin?

Back on topic: I have given FAllout 3 a second chance. Thought It is filled with mods and an additional hundreds of weapons and a good deal of fixes, the game is now accepted. It doesn't feature a lot of the immersive and funny things from the original Fallout univers, but it still a good, different game.

You start the quest in Cantebury Commons

this is the wiki page for the quest, called The Superhuman Gambit

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/The_Superhuman_Gambit

And feel free to consider the unique prizes for the quest... the laser pistol is the best of the prizes, but if you're not going to use it, and don't care about collecting all the unique guns, then go ahead and take whatever prizes you see fit. If you do not get it from the Machinist, you can't get it at all. So I was just warning you that there's a unique weapon in that quest that's missable, because I wish someone had warned me :)

In Fallout 3, you can use any or all of the gun types throughout the game (although you largely start with small guns, due to ammo and weapon availability).

This is semi-off topic, but did anyone else complete the game and not get the Scientific Pursuits achievement? just thought it was odd...

It involves Screwing up a storyline Doctor Li encounter... It can happen.. Most of the time, you can get the achievement from completing the next quest, but in certain scenarios, you don't get it.
