Order of appeal: Broken Steel, Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, and Mothership Zeta. Didn't play Point Lookout.

They are all good, the worst was probably mothership, just because felt like it dragged on a little after a while, but even then, it was still a 7/10 for me. Point Lookout was my favorite, damn creepy.

I'd say in this order:
Broken Steel: Play after end; pretty good story
Point Lookout: Tons of new content
Operation Anchorage/The Pitt/Zeta: The Pitt felt a bit too dirty to me, but had a ton of content; Operation Anchorage has some of the sweetest new weapons/armor on the game; Zeta has a ton of energy weapons if that's your thing.

Broken Steel raises your level cap so out of all of them, you're going to get the most for your money with it. But in regards to entertainment, I would recommend Point Lookout twenty times over. Sure, it may not have the best new items but for explorer types -- it's the most fun.

So I'll make this simple.

1) Broken Steel - level cap, extends end of main game
2) Point Lookout - more exploration, nice atmosphere
3) Operation Anchorage - hard to follow, best equipment at the end
4) The Pitt - finding those steel ignots is a royal pain, a little confining
LAST RESORT) Mothership Zeta - not fun, stuck on ship the entire time

Broken Steel definitely expands the game the most. I would rank it like this (since that's what everyone else is doing)

1. Broken Steel
2. Point Lookout
3. The Pitt
4. Operation Anchorage
5. Mothership Zeta

As others have said Broken Steel expands the game the most, being more of a full expansion pack than an add on. It adds 10 new levels of character advancement and continues on past the end of the game.

Quality wise Point Lookout is the best, and will also probably keep you involved the longest, however it arguably has the least in terms of actual character benefits as far as gear and traits.

The Pitt is the runner up, it's not as fun to explore as Point Lookout (being a giant scavenger hunt for Ore for the most part) but has some very nice loot and perks, especially if you like close combat.

I consider Operation Anchorage to be the least of the add ons because while it provides some interesting loot and an early way to get powered armor training, I found it to be VERY linear and to not take all that long. It just wasn't that much fun for me, also given the complete inabillity to backtrack in this one make sure you have a walkthrough to tell you where the Intel cases are to save some frustration.

Mothership Zeta is one of those love it or hate it type things. I thought it was quite fun personally, though it's definatly quirky. This one has a couple of areas you can get locked out of revisiting, so a walkthrough helps, but isn't quite as linear as Anchorage because you've at least got some desicians as to what areas to tackle first and in what order. The loot from this one is uber, but like The Pitt is mostly geared towards a specific character type... namely one who is going to use energy weapons. I consider this to be better than Anchorage, but not as good as the other three expansions.

I guess I'm the only one who likes and had no problems with MotherShip zeta?

Ok Let me discuss my point of view.

I see Mothership Zeta as a "rest area" or a bouns area than a level or RPG story telling in the game. Think about this gamers...

You have a level (a ship) in orbit full of powerful weapons, jewels that get you 100's of caps, Alien Apoxy that fixes everything, Tons of XP for completeing it and a new cool locale. That right there is pretty much a in-game cheat for me and is wonderful in my book.

Now don't get me wrong I respect people opinons of the DLC and everyone has there fav's. But I'm just throwing it out there, that Maybe this is the real reason for Mothership Zeta... a bouns area like that area in world 2 of Super Mario Bros. 2

Broken steel is an absolute must since it increases the level cap by 10. I've heard great things about Mothership Zeta too but haven't got that yet. Anchorage has the best end-mission bonus (ie: stealth armor). The Pitt has some sweet melee weapons and a new area but I can't remember too much more than that.

Incidental, I am in a position where I can get Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta and am unsure if I should get one, the other or, both. I just got back on XBL and have no idea what else to spend 1600 points on (other than Left 4 Dead DLC I guess)

I thought that Operation: Anchorage was probably the most fun out of all of the DLC's. It was a refreshing change from the last 100 hours of gametime. Plus I loved using the Gauss Rifle.

General consensus seems to be grabbing Broken Steel first, so I think I'll do that. Thanks all!

Feel free to use this as a general discussion for the DLC henceforth.

Broken Steel: Fixes ending, raises level cap, useful stuff. Useful perks Best.
Operation Anchorage: Great fun, Great equipment, a fun change of pace. Great.
The Pitt: Best story, useful perks, and the best weapon in the game (The Metal Blaster) Good.
Mothership Zeta: Fun, change of pace, useful weapons. Decent.
Point Lookout: Boring story, useless items, useless perks. Awful.

Fallout 3 GOTY is selling for 50$(online) at the Bethesda store. It comes with all of the DLCs. If you are just getting the game this is a good idea, BUT if you have the game, i would do research on each DLC YOU think you would like and download only one or 2 of them. I my self just played it at a friends house and i want to check everything out at once and will be getting the GOTY for the extra 12-15 hours of gameplay in the DLCs. It's a great game over all and i fully recommend it to any RPG lover.

broken steel is the best of the lot with the fixing the ending thing, so you can continue playing after you "die", i would have called it a con job dlc to get you to pay to fix your end game but the whole broken steel quest is excellent.

point lookout is the 2nd best twisted off beat and fun.

the pitt would be 3rd fairly lengthy but was very buggy when it came out, ok story.

operation anchorage 4th, got some ok weapons etc but not very long.

mothership zeta 5th, just did not enjoy it much.
