yea, but the mini gun was so weak, until you got your big guns skill too 100, so pretty much if you had it at the beggining, it was pretty much useless* srry for spelling*Aunel said:

I still remember when I first got it, I decided to try it out. I took it to a little spot I know at the top of the map where you can get on a really high ridge, and I decided to try firing it at various arcs off the ridge. It looked like a napalm strike as the flames hit the ground, and suddenly a bunch of +50 xps started popping up, without me even being able to see what I had hit.jakeEHTlovless said:

You should find Lincoln's repeater if you like hunting rifles. Inside the museum of history, it uses .44 ammo and has perfect accuracy. As in, where you aim it bullets will go exactly there. Also, it does MAJOR damage.s69-5 said:

Small guns. Specifically, the scoped .44 Magnum. It became my weapon of choice (as a character specializing in stealth, small guns and explosives) after I killed a Super Mutant by (I'm not making this up) shooting the grenade it had just thrown at me in midair. This was in V.A.T.S., sadly--I'm not that amazing at just aiming. But the grenade exploding in my enemy's face and the thrill of avoiding death was totally awesome.
Of course, energy weapons have good advantages (I used a plasma rifle as a backup ranged weapon), but I found they didn't compare to the magnum or, when I really botched the stealth, the Chinese assault rifle that I almost never used and therefore had several thousand rounds for.
Oh, right, and explosives are great later in the game, when you have enough of them that you don't worry about wasting your destructive power.
