I have another, quite valid question...

Why the fuck do you WANT to kill children? I mean this is kindof twisted even to me.
Why not.

Give people the freedom to do what they want, their first reactions are usually a) How can I break it, and b) How far can I go.

It's like a dog running on a leash to see how far it can go. It's a natural response.
Also because the mayor of little lamplight was annoying.

First, why would you want to have the ability to kill a kid?
Second, there is a mod that does that, on pc.
Third, My first point was hypocritical, since I have that mod.

Don't get me wrong, I gain no pleasure from killing kids in Fallout 3, but it adds to the "Diabolical Villain of the wasteland" that everyone fears and presumably hides under the bed when he's around idea.

The solution is honestly the mod. And I totally see where you're coming from TC.

Killing children is bad of course, but so is killing a homeless man, an unarmed woman, etc. etc. The children thing was just a political-friendly move, which is why I advocate the patch.

However
I disagree generally with killing a lot of the kids in Lamplight. MacCreedy is actually necessary, because he keeps the kids in line/safe. Most of the all the other kids are either confused by you, or downright nice. There's ONLY ONE ***** that deserves to die. Princess. By all means, decapitate Princess and spill her blood. She's a bigot, and will undoubtedly grow up into some Raider or inconsiderate wench.

A lot of people get sensitive over things happening to kids, especially nowadays.

EDIT: Even if they're just colors on a screen, which somehow still equals a child in some hater's eyes.

Fallout 1 & 2 had to remove the children in the European versions of the game >because< they could be killed the patch to get them back in was fan made. So I guess Bethesda would rather they be invicible than run the risk of having to remove them.

I believe I'm going to get Fallout 3 for the PC before I play through it again. It wasn't bad enough that they made the kids in little lamplight unkillable, but they also made them the most damnable annoying things in the entire game. I would rather encounter 10 Death Claws than one of those bastards.

Some adults are unkillable.

I found that out when I made a character that was forced to leave the vault and hates her father for it, after a few weeks in the wasteland she's no longer wants answers, but she wanted him dead.
Guess what happens when I finally found James?

At least there are mods [http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=376] for the PC version that fix these problems [http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3943].
It would have been nice to be able to toggle the essential NPC's on and off. In Morrowind you could kill the entire population of the game. I wish Bethesda would have kept with that.
Unkillables are plot essential (I.E. If they die accidentally (which is really easy to do) then the game can not be finished). YOu can toggle essential using the console commands if you have the game on PC using: setessential *base ID*. It's a very useful programing tool that makes the game run smoothly. We all know that due to bugs many characters can die accidentally and imagine if one was plot essential. Well what would you do, you want to finish the game. You are playing on console and so you can't use the console commands. See the dillema here.

You may not be able to kill them, but the "child snatcher" NPC, combined with whatshisface running Paradise Falls, left me with the distinct impression that poor little bumbles was going straight into the warm, loving arms of a paedophile and a lifetime of rape... at least, until she hits puberty and then she'll probably get sold to someone else who'll use her as a fucktoy.

There's just something about the way those characters sound, and what they actually say, that creates vibes far more disturbing than any bullet through a pre-pubescent skull.

DUDE ... if i could off kids in that game i would AND i'd go cannibal perk on their asses

kids doesn't change the fact that they're annoying as hell (just got out of a 12 hour babysitting session for my sister in law .... hardly worth the 20 quid)

in real life kids get the out of jail free card but in games i should be able to treat them like that super mutant that thought he was faster than me ... or that dude that begs for water (LOL bet my karma level's no mystery)
