Hi all, just wondered about something, now at the moment, the Fallout 3 GOTY edition is on sale on Steam, somehow I don't have it yet, but I do have a PS3 copy of the original version knocking around, it should come as no surprise that I, like many people, fucking love Fallout 3, but when I clicked the link it said "Notice: Fallout 3 is not optimized for Windows 7 and later", and I just wondered how much of a difference that makes, I've had my current rig for the better part of 2 years now, and it's still a pretty decent rig I think, but does Fallout 3 run at all well on Windows 7? I'm confident I've got the hardware for it as I can run Skyrim on ultra with a bunch of texture packs with no problem at all, but I've never encountered this "not optimized" notice before, I'm sure I won't have a problem but I just wonder if someone can confirm for me just to quell some niggling doubts...

It runs perfectly fine for me with a ton of mods. Usually the most optimising you'll need to do is modify (one of) the ini files, which is what I did.

I have both the GFWL (not as bad as that mark of the beast would imply) and the Steam (thanks to a big Bethesda sale years ago) versions. I ran it fine on Win 7, even with a few lightweight mods, for years.

I just bought it, and it's running fine on my Windows 7 laptop. I followed this guide, so I haven't run it vanilla.

If you have issues, you can always get the Tale of Two Wastelands mod, which adds Fallout 3 to New Vegas as a large expansion pack. You can then get a mini mod off their website that lets you choose to start in either the Mojave or DC.

At worst it might just mean you might have to run the game in compatibility mode or "as Administrator", but that's about it. Other than that it should work fine.
