Really the driver issue is a cop-out since most drivers auto-update these day anyway. And if you're smart enough to be able to turn that off then you should be smart enough to do it yourself

Fallout 3 isn't one of my top games at the moment but I have to say that it runs about 20-30 fps on my PC, which with a 2.00GHz processor I consider below average, since I'm more of a casual gamer. But my point is that it doesn't take more than 10 seconds to get to the main menu, and about 5 to load my saved game and I never had that send error report problem.

If you consider yourself a PC gamer, the way you explained to us how hard it was to install it

After clicking on numerous "I agree" tabs, the game began installing.
indicates you just wanted to rant about Fallout 3 not working on your PC.

The OP may be a bit mistaken in the PC is dieing fad, but he is trying to make a point more (I believe, at least) that it's easier to pop in and play a console, and I guess I have to agree, but is easier better? He also makes a point that yes, developers need to stabilize their products, or, I don't know.... Test them? Butg this is the same things we say. They do the same things in every Console's games too. I think the problem is that the PC costs so much, but in comparison, the consoles can be forgiven, since they force the updates in the game's opening, and the whole setup is cheaper anyways.
Whatever happened to Nintendo's idea of delaying for the sake of the game?

Looks like your computer cant handle the game. If its not that it could be that the game didnt install correctly.

Is it really too much to ask that games on PC actually work? No wonder PC gaming is going down the tubes.

Tsk, PC applications have more issues than consoles applications!? Well I'll be damned! I wonder why that happens! Oh that's right, the freedom of hardware choice that's what. With literally millions of different system combinations, millions of quirks and bugs will surface.
30 times more issues? You never answered my question - is it really too much to ask that the application just works as it should? Photoshop does. Multisim does. Windows XP does. Nero, autoCAD, Daemontools, Soundforge, Mediaplayer... all just work and always have. Why should games be different?

Incidentally no. This isn't trolling. You might not like the points I make but that isn't the same thing. Calling someone a troll for making points you don't like is though.

And yes it is trolling, spewing out crap like that without backing it up is either trolling or very very ignorant. What point did you wanted to make again? PC gaming is dying? Alright, I'll bite, now back it up and bring up some facts or just leave it at that.

And...

http://www.product-reviews.net/2008/11/17/fallout-3-sells-most-in-series-xbox-360-has-55-of-sales/

Breakout of Fallout 3 Sales
55% - 360
28% - PS3
17% - PC

17% is a distant third. Not only that but what about next year when the console userbase increases by 7 or 8 million users for each console? The PC share will be even smaller. The PC currently has (by far) the largest user base. Why are so many people apparently getting the game for a console when the PC version is supposedly superior? Why are so many people having issues with the PC game compared to the Console variants when less than 1 in 5 people are buying the PC edition?

Now I backed it up. Quit calling troll please.

You may want to look up online and digital sales bud. I've seen those sales figures and they are retail only.

BUT LIKE OMG PC GAMING SUCKS cuz cuddly_tomato thinks that 360 version is superior because it doesn't have an install time!

You're a troll because you're trying hard to downplay the PC version of the game for some reason, and then advocate that "the 360 is superior! hurr hurr!"

Why should we give a shit what you think cuddly_tomato? If you enjoy the 360 version more than the PC one, why should we care? More importantly, why beat a dead horse? Does it really matter if we agree with you or not?

Also, the Wii sold the most units, therefore it's the best system ever.

No. I think it's superior because it plays.

No. I am not a troll because I am a PC gamer. I just think that as a PC gamer I am entitled to the same level of respect as console gamers from developers. Releasing shoddy and broken products for one platform while making them work for the rest is unacceptable.

You don't understand "forums" obviously. They are for people to post, not for people to post as long as they agree with you.

The Wii is not an Xbox, nor is it a PC or a PS3. Fallout 3 is Fallout 3 whatever it is on.

Bethesda is known for releasing games with massive bugs, and then patching. From the very mouth of one of the lead designers "It was a miracle Morrowind even ran when it was released". Fallout 3 is actually very stable on the vast majority of computers. I have played it on 3 computers at work, and 3 computers at home, and besides the crashes I got for messing with the ini file, there have been no stability issues.

Make sure it's fully patched, and that all your drivers are up to date. Sometimes your virus scanner can also interfere with games, so try disabling that before you play to see what happens. I'm sorry it's not working for you, but that doesn't mean that the PC version is just plain awful, and that no one should buy it. It means that you got unlucky.

As for the sales figures...according to some sources, digital distribution accounts for over half of PC sales, and many sales charts don't count online sales as well. If buying retail, most PC gamers will turn to one of many online stores first because of the lackluster (at best) game selection at brick and mortor stores. I predict the race is much closer than you expect. I saw a graphic one that put it best: "PC Gaming: Proudly dying since 1985."

I have it for PC and I found some issues mainly sound related, something to do with a certain audio codec? conflicting with hardware accelerated sound.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_bugs

just going by this the bugs are system wide and to an unacceptable level, looks almost as bad as Gothic 3!!
