We can smuggle it in (that was what I was planning on doing anyway, in order to exploit eBay and the weak American Dollar to get the game half priced) but thats not the point. The point is that it means the government doesn't percieve gaming as a mature pasttime like film. Its insulting. Like how Gay lovers battle for the right to be married. They could just live together, and it'll be no different than if they were married (save some benefits on medical plans, etc), but they want to be married, because they have just as much right to be recognised by the state as two people who love each other as a heterosexual couple.

Yes, I'm aware that I just compared gaming to two people loving each other. Sorry, but I can't come up with a better analogy right now.
weak australian dollar?

you may need to check on that my friend, it's a good time for the southern land.
he said weak american dollar....

That is hard for me to hear.

Though I see fallout 3 has both a pro AND anti American culture feel to it. It obviously has very political and patriotic vibes to it that make you see a different side to my people, before we wave our dicks in your face. I don't know if it's Aus trying to oust any kind of propaganda wagon, but I do see it as your country (plus Germany) has issues getting over your history and nature as humans. Maybe someday when we have plugs in our heads we can forget we like violence (from a 3rd person perspective) and watch the new Rambo movie without feeling bad about it.

America loves you...
and ketchup...
and Jesus...

I really don't get this. The only reason I used drugs in the first Fallout was to avoid radiation poisoning; Good ol' RadX ;) Even then the player suffered from taking too much. It seems to me Australia is just attempting (and failing) to mimic the US in it's approach to violence/sex/drugs in games. Import is my suggestion, unfortunately thats all there is to do until someone in government comes to their sense and realises just how stupid these laws are.

I think it'll be frigging hilarious if Fallout 3, one of the most anticipated games in a while, turns out to be utter crap. Similar thing can be said about the Manhunt 2 issue, everyone was crying about how it was AO, banned and other bad words but when it was finally released everyone thought it was crap and all arguments for R18+ and freedom of equality faded away.

I'm sorry but I still find it ironic that a nation founded primarily by murderous convicts has a games regulation system tighter than a size 4 top on a sumo wrestler.

I'm rooting for you, gamers of Australia. Don't take this without a fight!

Meanwhile, I'm off to preorder my copy of the game. Wooosh~

Yeah I'm trying hard to get heart attacks banned, I mean, heart attacks kill people, if we ban them, then no one will get them!

Support isn't so easy to find though...>_>

ElArabDeMagnifico, I support your ban of heart attacks. My grandfather died of a heart attack, and if they had been banned then he probably would have just died from falling down the stairs or something else old people do.

I remember someone saying somewhere, maybe here, that the media hates video games because there is content in M rated games that would only get a PG-13 rating if they were in a movie; I think the example used was Mass Effect.
Still, there are soem really 'hard' PG-13 (not sexual, just on the furthest end of the spectrum) movies out there that would get major publicity if made into games. It seems to me that the general public thinks that games are for kids, movies are for everyone, so games must be more closely monitored.
