Honestly I'd want a prequel to all the games, it never made sense to have games set after Fallout 2 (regardless of their quality), simply because by that point in the story, humanity had pretty much pulled themselves from the ashes and successfully started anew.
Pffft, tell that to the people of the Capital Wasteland who don't even know how to build a well.
That actually why it's quite jarring in Fallout 3, that they're still using bottle caps and living in ruins. In Fallout 2 there was possibly four advanced societies functioning by the end of it, the NCR, Vault city, San Francisco under the Shi Empire and the Vault13/Arroyo city.

In particular the Shi empire was actually reverse engineering pre-war tech like power armour and vertibirds (if you got them the schematics), that's how advanced they were.

But it does make sense that the Capital would suffer far greater nuclear attack and therefore slower re-building.

That it runs on a new engine. The scenery and characters in Fallout 3/New Vegas look like it was all moulded from cottage cheese.
Hmm...should make hardcore mode easier. Om nom nom
It would if I liked cottage cheese -.-

As a long-standing fan of the series from when BlackIsle were the developers I found that Las Vegas was more in keeping with the feel of the first two games, while the third was more along the lines of a shooter with roleplay elements. However I enjoyed them both thoroughly.
My first hope for Fallout 4 would be one that runs more smoothly, with less glitches, crashes, freezes and shorter load times. I would like to finally see what is happening with the rest of the world, how about setting it in a different country? Europe for example, or South America would be cool, fighting your way through the radiation-mutated Amazonian rainforests. Coming across remnants of Aztec ruins that are inhabited by strange post apocolyptic survivor cults. Bethesda could explore how other countries prepared for the inevitable nuclear war.
Also, this new area would mean that it wouldn't have to chronologically follow on from some point after 3 or Las Vegas, how about turning the date back to some time around Fall Out 1. We can then follow how the other countries try to rebuild civilization. We can also see their versions of organisations such as the Brotherhood and Enclave.
I'd like it to have the feel of Las Vegas as apposoed to 4 because Fallout was originally an RPG not a shooter. Just with a better engine.

I think they might have trouble thinking up dangerous animals for England.
Fallout : Australia.

Everything fucking kills you here. Having said that, I wouldn't want to go up against a radioactive badger.
Imagine Deathkicks, the radiated version of the kangaroo...

Yeah, I'd love a serious AAA game attempting to imagine a post-nuclear apocalypse Australia. (Especially a city area - obviously the place already looks desolate BEFORE the fallout so you'd want at least some urban sections. Or you could just set the whole thing in the East Coast around rainforests etc, that'd make for a surprise to those who are like "OMG OUTBACK? LOL BORING".)

But sadly, Bethesda would never take such a huge marketing risk as to set Fallout totally outside of America for the entirety of the game.

The majority of potential consumers of such a game are American, and of course, the rest of the world is very much a subject of "Thar be dragyns" thinking in the minds of the lowest common denominator there (as it is everywhere).

I would like there to be dual wielding certain melee weapons and handguns. Also being able to be ghoulified. That is all I can think of.
Ghoulification sounds, heh, rad! I never really noticed radiation that much- it was just a number I had to keep down by using RadAway.

If radiation corresponded with visible ghoulification over time, with the effects (partially?) reversible by use of Chems, it would give the world that extra layer of passive interactivity, and have radiation become- visually, at least- that much more potent.

Don't laugh. It might look a little like this:
plus, you could fit the whole country in, instead of having a naff invisible wall.

I would like Fallout 4 to take place in NY, New Jersey, Europe, Russia or China. It'd be a different perspective and might add more to the story of the apocalyptic war.

2 things I want changed. Get rid of that awful chance shooter b.s. I don't think anyone has the time to stop and think about what body part they can hit most effectively and most likely... not too mention how aggravating it is when you miss and you just spent half your day zooming in while time stopped in order to give you statistical analysis of what you should do in, what would usually be, a split second. It's so boring and unrealistic to reaction time that my eyes want to scream at me for torturing them. I know you don't have to use it, and I don't, but the game seems centered around it.

Secondly I would like to think that a point blank shotgun blast to someone's cerebral membrane renders them with an incurable case of death and not just a critical wound. I mean, most of the time I'm running backwards from a guy who's head is "critically damaged" and yet he's still chasing me at full speed, keeping balance and managing to fight back quite effectively. I understand that, say, mutants might take one more case of lead to the head but shooting a human in the head 7 or 8 times renders false. It reminds me of that hilarious part in Me, Myself and Irene where J.C. has to kill a cow... it's hilarious because it's so unrealistic! If the guy I shoot is wearing an armored mask, at least make it so that he's in shock or wounded. A face full of shrapnel is not the same as grazing your knee (unless you're 3, in which case every pain you feel is accompanied by a large whine until you're given ice-cream). This is a post-apocalyptic world, they don't have ice-cream. They just have brown, destroyed scenery, immortal men and useless guns!

I liked Fallout New Vegas and i have been lucky not to have to many bugs.

I would like to see hardcore mode devloped into something more in depth, something where you need to camp every night, or you have a kit etc. not sure if this would be to in depth but it would be cool at least for a bit.
I would like to see the mid west or something like chicago and in the mid west.
less loading screens FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!
deffinatly a place to stay early in the game like in Fallout 3 that was a boon
def vehicles, maybe it can be a fetch quest or something you need to fix up.
Co-op would be nice as well

You are a ninja.
There would be a fallout shelter in the GPO, and mutants in the old army barracks. It would be awesome. I would help to fund this project.

All I ever wanted, was for NPCs to stop staring at me. And have a nicer dialogue.

A sprint function would be bloody nice too.

alright, I'm a big follower if the fallout series, since the first one.
but i enjoy Bethesda's version as well. (i don't consider new vegas a game in the fallout series, because i hated it so much)

But is anyone else excited for fallout 4? i know it will run on the same engine that skyrim is being developed on. but even then, if the developers completely leave that stupid barren piece of shit Mojave wasteland and get back to big city's, a well developed story. plus a chance at bug-less game play. well it's something to be excited about. what do you guys think?

umm, doesn't Fallout New Vegas count as fallout 4? What do you mean? the Mojave wasteland was epically better then the capital wastelands. Also while it would be nice I hope they don't make a new one so soon. if they did it would only turn out for the worst. Good games need a lot of development and if they were to throw a new fallout every few years they would degrade and become a cash cow. Bethesda isnt like that....yet.
Fallout three continued the general storyline of the first and second one.
mainly coming from the vault and that stuff. But new Vegas was an entirely pointless money maker. had no real story in it, just big stupid American city people want. who cares. fallout 1,2,3 had substance and something deeper then a kiddie pool. nothing in new Vegas mattered to the general universe.
the Mojave wasteland was bland and boring also, capital wasteland, or vault city. great areas, immersed you onto the world of fallout. a big desert with bandits and big bugs? that's not a nuclear fallout in post apocalyptic status. it's Texas on acid...
Fallout New Vegas followed the story just as much as fallout 3. Fallout new vegas had a much more immersive story. you got to play for yourself and it was way more immersive than fallout 3. Capital wastelands were a mostly copy paste type of land scape while New Vegas had a pile of different colorful environments that were fun to play in. New Vegas had better weapons, more variety, they brought back game play elements to fallout from the first 2.

here i Was about to argue with you when I realized that you must be a troll. Nobody is that arrogant while making claims with nothing to back them up. bye.
Not trolling bud. technical aptitude wise, new Vegas is better then 3. but a story about being some tough individual bad ass ruling a massive dessert with boring people? that's an American fantasy. wheres the humor of the fallout series. the actually well written not Americanized everything revolves around money and power bullshit. How about survival, the constant knowledge that war never ends, the sub text to human nature? it was all thrown away in new Vegas for a cheap side game. sure, theirs ads mode now. big fucking whoop. it has to much structure. there's no hopeless, no horrible onslaught of shit. really the world seems like a badly designed desert game with rpg aspects tacked on.

look at fallout 3's megaton. crazy city built around a bomb. someone wants to blow it up because he can. humans with souls live there. most developed and amazing part of new Vegas? new fucking Vegas. wow. congrats America. can't shove your unsustainable city down the rest of the worlds throats any harder can you. really just stupid idea there.

and while i'm at it, don't let obsidian make any more knock offs of good games. please. it's just stupid. fucked up kotor 2, screwed up new vegas. adding new features does not justify taking away the soul of the game.
Just wanted to point one last thing out to you. You were arguing with me, another Canadian who dislikes the Americans. you said the game was for American city people while I am a Canadian farm boy.

You should also realism just because you don't like a certain game, doesn't mean you start a thread and bash it the whole time. I may sounds like a bit of a hypocrite because I was saying bad things about fallout 3. You were being an asshole and I got hot headed defending a game I liked. Lets leave it at that.

This is what i would like

Improved Engine,
Less Load Time
More Weapons lots more
More Enemies like 'Android's' 'Birds/Flying Enemies'
A Choice of Race 'Ghoul' 'Human' 'Android' 'Super Mutant' with origin stories
HUGE world hopefully one of these
Austin/West Elizabeth/Mexico all in one yes like RDR
New York City and it's Outskirt's
Companions will talk to you as you walk around the world [yes like Dragon age Origins]
More Gore
A ZOO imagine fighting a Radiated Tiger/Monkey's and Rob Schiender
No Spider's
Buyable Mount's like riding Giant Ant's or a Yaoi Guai
LOTS of Music and i mean LOTS and when you complete missions you get more music.
Play your own music while playing the game, imagine listening to 'Won't Back Down' charging into the Enclave with your Sledgehammer
Lots of Custom Weapons to Build
BOAT's i swear there is like 1 Boat in Fallout that has significance
EVEN MORE WEAPONS
Hybrid Enemies [i don't know where i was going with that]
MUSIC did i mention it?
Lots of customizable features while makeing your chacrter eg Piercing,Tattoo's
When you get hurt you can get Scar's

Yeah thats about it
Pretty much all that, right now you can have most of this in F3 and NV but then you'd have to download mods and a bunch of other stuff just to get the mods working properly.
It would be nice to have more races, weapons and what not without spending a bunch of time modding your game instead of playing it.

All i really want, is to know what happens when the brotherhood and outcasts decide to deal with each other, or they make contact with the western elders.
Also, i like that it is in America, im British but it being American trying to reclaim what they was is part of the whole thing.
Its like the whole wild west. That would be weird in other places.

Just one thing.

That it isn't made by Bethesda or Obsidian.

I'd like the Ability to drive vehicles.
And it should be set in Post-apocalyptic Outback Australia

Can you guess what i'd call my character...
(hint)
