So I realize this is just a guy reporting what another guy said, but it's still pretty interesting in a 'let's wait and see' sort of way.

Edit: Source confirmed to be fake. This is now a Fallout 4 speculation thread.

I know it's coming but after I got so excited by that fake website and stuff before I decided to stop listening until it came from Bethesda.

I am pretty sure it will be around Boston which I am looking forward to, I am so looking forward to Fallout 4 in so many ways. I hope they keep all the various types of crafting from New Vegas and I also sincerely hope they don't include Cazadores.

I'd really like to see Fallout 4 be set in what's left of New York. I think it'd be interesting to see how the city faired after the war. You could even include something of a Five Families set up, with five gang families all vying for control of the city, each perhaps backed by a different faction from the game world.

No such place exists in TES.

IIRC New york was made a radioactive hole in the ground that nothing could survive in after the great war.

Regardless of the fake source, BEthesda's past habit of hinting what thier next game will be in the TES series makes boston still the most likely place for the game to be set in, given that its the only area mentioned multiple times across Fo3 and its DLC.

ITs also likely to be "Blade Runner: Fallout edition" with its main plot. given that the Institute has androids who hunt other androids, like how Decker was a replicant hunting other replicants in Blade Runner.

I'm not sure. I don't ever remember reading anything about New York (EDIT: to that effect, I mean), and I don't see it being as much of a target since the United Nations was disbanded long before the war (that'd be another cool faction to bring in, some group that took over the old UN building and are trying to recreate it).

That being said, it is equally likely you're right, too, and I just haven't been able to find anything.

I came in here to say a rather snarky "Just like all those other unofficial announcements, eh?" but the OP already beat me to it with an edit confirming it's fake.

I wouldn't mind seeing Boston as the location for Fallout 4. As the place that fermented a lot of revolutionary thought and even had the infamous Sons of Liberty, it would be quite interesting to see where Boston in the Fallout universe went and it would fit the weirdly patriotic-to-the-point-of-satire aesthetic that Fallout pulls off so well in its forever idealized 1950's.

Given what we have heard of the institute in Fallout 3, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was a more tone down version of OWB, a technological paradise surrounded by a savage wasteland, without all the penis jokes.

Imagine a place that was able to take House's robotics technology, since House went to MIT, and then spent the next 200 years constantly improving it to the point they can make life-like androids.

Imagine what sort of high technology place that would be.

That could always be retconned. Bethesda's never cared too much about continuity.
Ohh please, Tim Cain has said Fallout 3 followed lore greatly.

I'm more worried about them watering down the gameplay, Skyrim is a joke and FO4 should be worse than that.....a borderlands clone I do not want.....(well the equipment I'd like )

The lore had them as some insane CHIM-level overpowered junk that would never have worked within the constraints of what TES is actually like as a game,

If they want to set Fallout 4 in New York, they could do something similar by implying that it got heavily hit by nukes, but tone it down from what they've said in the past - i.e. instead of it being an uninhabitable hole in the ground, they could say it was more heavily nuked than the rest of the US,
No offense, but not it didn't, TES lore always held that the greybeards where held in the peoples minds as super beings of the thu'um, because they spent ages learning it, but the thu'um itself was never portrayed as anything near CHIM level. The worst it did pre-skyrim was knock down walls and gates so the nordic armies could invade, in fact, almost all thu'um powers outside that were just made up for Skyrim. Shouts weren't even connected to dragons before skyrim came along.

And while I do agree with the overall point, I honestly dont think they would New york is "that one city EVERY game does" so I dont actually expect to see Fallout go there, its best left nuked, let other cities like Boston take the light.

which could give them an excuse for keeping the aesthetic of Fallout 1/3 while dodging the issues that that brought up with the timeline in Fallout 3.
Except no issues were brought up, timeline wise. D.C. was just nuked many times more heavy then Cali, and Fallout radiation has never worked anything like real world radiation, hence mutant animals. Its 2014, people need to get over it.

Hell, Obsidian themselves have said they wanted to do a Fallout game set in LA, and described it as being like the walking dead, but full of radiation. Even they think "massive city still irradiated 200 years after the war" is an entirely logical and fitting game for the series.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/02/12/and-heres-obsidians-idea-for-fallout-new-vegas-2/
?And we need an interesting confined area. So I mean, it could be LA. Fallout LA. That could be interesting. It?d probably be The Boneyard, which is from Fallout 1. It could be very different. It could be almost a Walking Dead meets Fallout-like thing because of all the radiation.?

-Well, those types of Thu'um do still exist, like Alduin's thu'um which brings the dead back to life, which is likely a variation of "what happens when you shake the dragon", and Miirak's hacks 4 word dragon shout that can automatically absorb a dragons soul and convert it to health for the user. You just don't get them because "secret shouts". But I do get what you are saying about it, and agree to an extent.

-Sawyer said he wanted to make a Fallout RTS game set in Europe, though its unlikely to happen... but they do still think about it. According to Beth, Europe is such a massive shithole that people like Tenpenny willingly move to the C.W> because its considered better.
