Sorry for re-posting, apparently, I have put my poll in a wrong category earlier.

I have finished Fallout 3 earlier, i thought it was awesome, then came Fallout NV, i was disappointed, completely... Then i thought, hmm, shouldn't there be Fallout 1 and 2? I got me Fallout 1, and... I had the most fun out of a video game in years. I just got sick of those action rpg's, fps's and mumorpugers... And i coudnt find anything remotely similar to this turn based rpg style, at least not in the last decade.

Leave your suggestions and whatnot ;)

The only games that have come up so far are Planescape something and Arcanum sumthin-sumthin, are they good ore even better than Fallout?

I don't understand what you are asking but.... The elder scrolls series are good games the most recent ones Morrowind and Oblivion are the best of the series and they are made by the same dev as fallout

Edit: I did not see the post above this sorry

You're better off ditching anything Bioware has made and instead look through everything with a Black Isle stamp on it. Planescape: Torment. Arcanum. Those are probably the two most unique, quirky and fun cRPGs you will ever come across.

They don't make'em like they used to.

I can't stand most "classic" RPG's. I tried playing Fallout 1 after Fallout 3, and I couldn't bear it.
Yeah fallout 1 is pretty terrible.

OT: I think you're asking for other rpgs similar in style to the early fallouts. If so, baldurs gate, icewind dale and planescape: torment are all dnd universe/turn-based rpgs that are supposedly pretty good (i've only played bg2). If you're not into fantasy then you're shit out of luck.

Well, if you haven't played Fallout 2, I suggest that.
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/fallout_2

And Arcanum
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura

I also suggest Daggerfall, which is free. Get it here [http://theelderscrolls.wiwiland.net/?title=Daggerfall_:_DaggerfallSetup_EN]. Its set up so you don't need to fuss with DOSbox. Just download, install, and play a damn good RPG.

You can get Baldur's Gate(both games + Expansions) for $10 each at GoG.com.
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/baldurs_gate_the_original_saga
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/baldurs_gate_2_complete

I also suggest Planescape: Torment.
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/planescape_torment
Its regarded by many to be one of the best RPG's ever made.

Also the Icewind Dale games
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/icewind_dale_complete#s_1
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/icewind_dale_2

All are awesome RPG's.

Oh, well then your choices will be limited, since hats basically 98% of older RPG's. Fallout 2 and Arcanum are the only ones I have to recommend in that case.

Planescape: Torment is probably on more or less equal levels with Fallout. Though if you don't like fantasy rpgs, that might be a turn off. However it does exist outside of a lot of the typical trappings. For instance, the "Nameless One" main character is not your stereotypical hero from humble beginnings.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura is decent, but not as good as the other two. It's unique kick is that it deals with the emergence of steampunk levels of technology and how that interacts with magic.

Hmm... I just went over your sword and sorcery dislike and I'm right there with you. Its hard to find good cRPG games that aren't completely based around D&D. Arcanum is a step in the right direction because you can choose to use guns and other pieces of early technology if you're a fun and exciting person. If you're boring, of course, you can just opt to use magical weapons and spells. Or you can stick somewhere in the middle.

On the other hand there's Planescape: Torment, which is still fantasy. It's very dark, grim fantasy though so it takes that varnished D&D sheen off it. You know that varnish that screams high fantasy nerdgasm.

Still, Fallout 1 & 2 (I personally prefer 1) are the most unique cRPGs I can think of. Nothing else in the market like that. You could try playing Fallout: Tactics, though I heard people didn't like it as much.

Fair enough. What really struck you as great about Fallout 1 & 2? Was it the gameplay control (the turn based combat and isometric view)? Was it the deeper feeling of the world (you know how everything has a little description and the message log is hilarious)? Or was it the post-apocalyptic setting (my personal favorite)?
