I am currently writing a campaign sourcebook for Fallout based on Jason Mical's version 2.0 and a few "homebrew" rules. Right now it starts out with the Players somehow ending up in the town of Pecanland and picking one of many jobs that leads to the discovery of large mutant alligators moving into the area. Think killer croc but reproducing like rabbits. There are roughly ten large communities located in the entire area, but due to their size is quite enough for my purposes. I am also RPing with a couple of friends as I write this so it's all quite experimental. I was simply wondering if anyone had anything they might wish to contribute. I plan on posting this guide in the future somewhere for everyone to use so I do hope that everyone can enjoy the story.
Louisiana: The area has been reduced to bogs and swamps. The only safe way to travel are the old highways. Interstate 20, Highway 80, Interstate 49, and Interstate 10. The area is also home to the Furry semi-intelligent Deathclaws as well as many different critters. Though some general raiders are present, the largest band is the 80s. There are also a few camps of Unity supermutants who escaped the nets of the Midwestern Brotherhood. Brotherhood and Enclave presence is limited, though some scouts from both groups have come this far south to search the ruins of the old Air Force Base and Posiedon Oil ruins in New Orleans. Most of the southern part of the state however is now sleeping beneath the irradiated oceanic waters of the gulf.
Main obstacles: Other than some political struggles between the three largest communities, there is the presence of a Wolf Cult in old Barksdale AFB. A Supermutant army threatens the heavily fortified mall at Pecanland. The Slavers Guild led by Modoc may have a few jobs for more evil minded players, and the 80's will constantly dog anyone on their strech of road. There is also the problem of dissappearing caravans caused by the new alligators. There are finally a large number of inbred swampfolk and rabies infested loonies.
Plot Progression: After doing whatever task the group feels they wind up fighting and taking a beating from one of the gators. If they decide to investigate they go far to the south to a survivalist and spiritual town called Kinder Apostles. From there they learn the new menace came from the east. They go east and run into a man named Harris living in an old fuctioning gas station, though where he gets his fuel is unknown. He points the group towards the Baton Rouge Boneyard and discover a community of ghouls living on the outskirts who saw an entire colony of the gators even farther east. Finally the group gets to Slidell a small fishing community. There they meet the descendant of a Posiedon Oil executive who knows about secret vaults built on the Eurovualt plans rather than Vault-tec. The group then buy a boat and diving equipment and find the vualt in the underwater ruins of New Orleans.
This is all I have so far but if anyone has any good plot ideas please let me know. Due to the fact that I have not included a single vault-tec vault in this story the PCs backgrounds can be very diverse and of any race. My current squad of players includes a Ghoul doctor and mechanic, a stealthy deathclaw, a beautiful prostitute who knows how to break any lock, an albino sniper, an ex security guard from Pecanland, and mysterious man who fled Texas. This is not a thread for a game. This is a thread for ideas.
