Fallout DC, Fallout New Vegas, how about a little love north of the boarder?

Fine most of our market is in the states yes, but already your doing polar opposites of the country so why not explore a little and have some veriaty. Everyone goes with cities we all know from movies and practically every other video game in a run down city ever made.

Am i Canadian? Yes, Do i hate America? No, it's a great place and the cities are great to explore but really how much longer do i have to explore the same place again and again.

Vegas, L.A, San Fran, New York, and DC, ever seen any other american city in a game? NO

Overall though i think a Fallout Toronto could be awsome. Gouls lurking in abandoned subway stations, the skydome transformed to some massive fortress or gladiatorial arena, the CN Tower an inpenitrable base? or world's best sniper position?

There's are so many possabilities to be explored in all regards, new landmarks, new vehicles, new quests.

Steal an Avro car (an experimental flying saucer make by A.V. Roe for the us army) and zoom through the streets mowing down mutants.
Fight your way to recover the stanley cup from the hockey hall of fame, taking on hoards of gouls decked out in hockey gear armor.
Survive a trip to center island while desperatly defending the ferry from looters attacking anyone foolish enough to take to the water.
Wander the University of Toronto Campus searching for new tools and weapons. Or take sides in a local feud between the engineers and the artsies. (engineers woot! 40 beers)
Scavange through the Eaton's Center, or take out a local warlord holed up in city hall. (resident evil movie fans will recognize the building)
Canada's Wonderland....k i got nothing......over run creepy amusment park maybe?

Fallout 3 said (in loading screens) that Canada had been annexed by the US for our resources, well lets see it. was it invasion? Did we team up? Is their a resistance?

For anyone who's been to Toronto you know there's a ton of possabilities.

Yes this goes for any new city, Canadian or otherwise, but seriously cross the boarder.

Americans, Canadians, and everyone else out in the world, what do you think? Isn't it time for some veriaty?

Eh, It might be interesting, along with that one of the Raider's mentioned a town named "Ronto" thats sorta "up north" during the Pitt DLC.

However, It's unlikely that the great white north would make an interesting setting, mainly since all the Fallout's have been set in the U.S of A.

No

The Fallout series has always, and should always, taken place in America. This is for a reason. The game's setting focuses around an exaggerated American gold age that was devastated by nuclear war. The fate of other areas of the world is ambiguous for a reason. Think of all the reoccurring themes that have been shown throughout the series. Many of these are heavily tied to the American setting.

While Canada is a bit more reasonable than, say, China, I still think the Fallout games should stick to America. At least, that's my opinion. I don't think there is any reason to change the setting just for the sake of variety, since there are already tons of varied landscapes and cities here in America.

However I wouldn't mind briefly vising Canada in something like DLC. I just don't want a whole game set there.

I think its a bad idea.
From my understanding of the weather up there, you'd have to stay inside for half the year.

God no, not that many hours of copy and pasted tunnels....

Nah....

Fallout Hawaii is still gunna be next on the list. It just makes the most sense and sounds bloody perfect. Giant mutant sharks, volcano, Chinese invasion, huge pearl harbor military base, surfing... and no invisible walls. Only endless oceans where sharks kill you.

And DLC islands!!!11

hmmm...interesting idea, id also like to see the effect of radiation on a moose lol.... honestly though i dont see a problem with it being set in US cities....yes im from the US, but thats beside the point, and there havent been MANY games set in Vegas, outside of that one Tom Clancy game i cant think of one off the top of my head, but i do agree that i'd like to see more variety in game locations, but i can see why alot of games arent set in Canada specifically, no offense but Americans dont view Canada as that interesting, outside of drugs in fact Canada doesnt come up much. If there were to be a Fallout game set outside of the US, personally id like to see it in Mexico, Russia, or Africa, more Africa than anywhere else, think of the effects of high radiation on tribes, rain forests & rain forest animals

The reason it's set in the major US cities is because people want to recognize what they see. If they don't recognize anything it might as well be completly fictional. So while a game set in Toronto would be really cool for anyone who's been there or seen it a lot on TV or whatnot, for the rest of the world it's just a bad fictional setting. Either set it in a city tons of people know enough to recognize the surroundings or make something up.

A fallout game that takes place in Ronto? Depending on what happened to Canada during the war of 2077 it might either suck or be not that bad. (Im a pessimist alright?)
I still cant wait for New Vegas though, its gonna be dope

Everyone knows that the only places in the world is America. Everything ever will happen there. No where else.

I quite enjoyed that District 9 made a point of not being in America.

All good points, yes there are better locations, and i do agree with you Kraken it has been set in the us for a reason.
Also i`ll be ignoring all the steriotypes people bring up so go wild.

Historically the advancment of the US and Canada have always matched very closly. Obviously because most of our buisness is done with eachother. So i don;t see it deviating much from the whole `golden age`part.
And yes most Americans see Canada as boring, sorry we don;t cause alot of trouble but we do have our moments. And considering there`s a fair amount of game developers who are actually Canadian companies i was thinking they`d be able to take the chance to not only expand on an amazing franchize but at the same time clear us some misconseptions and yes expose you to the horrers of iradiated moose.

It's an interesting idea. I've wondered myself what toll the nuclear apocalypse has taken on other areas of the world, like Europe and Asia.

I'm not sure it'd work, though. A major aspect of the Fallout games has always been the tarnished 50's Americana vibe. A Fallout game set elsewhere in the world would basically just be something like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or Metro 2033.

I think it'd be fun, but only because I'd be more familiar with the places, because I live in Canada.

I know what you mean. It has always bothered me that everything takes place in the states. I know that they are a large demographic but how about some stories that are told in Canada?

How about some that don't depict us as living in igloos or chopping wood or saying "eh" all the time?

Would it be so wrong for a tv show, movie, or video game to take place in Vancouver? How about Ottawa? They are large cities that are known.

I think people have a mentality that Canada is just boring or something. Like there couldn't be some murder mystery/serial killer on the loose in our country cause we are all too busy drinking beer and eating bacon.

Vegas and DC are far more iconic than anywhere in Canada, no offense.

not only whats already been said, think of it like this, the game developers feel they have made a huge leap with changing the setting to a place like vegas, which if you think about it, isnt a HUGE step from D.C., the main difference being the fact that the game will be bright, with actual light here and there, but going from D.C. to Canada, or Vegas to Canada, is a rather large step, snow being a huge thing for them to tackle, not to mention densely populated woods, and huge lakes, it might be a bit too risky for the game to take that large of a leap, hell to me point lookout was a bit of a large leap from D.C., and it took some getting used too, the hardcore fans might not like that large of a leap, god knows they probibly will ***** and moan about vegas
