Fallout: Des Moines. Lots of Brahmin, hordes of bloodthirsty mutant crows (around the ruins of the Principal Building), and a wacky cult of ghouls that worship the last Iowa State Fair Buttercow.
I know, I'm a avid fan myself. But that doesn't mean there absolute nothing left. Chances are, there are still a few survivors left. But my point is, we don't know much about the rest of the world during the war and even less after the war, there is much more room for development (story-wise) than in any other place in North-America.azraelthor said:Europe and the Middle East destroyed each other in their resource war, then Europe destroyed themselves in when the European Commonwealth colapsed. And all of that before the great war. The US and mabye China and the USSR were the only countries that would have been capable of building the vaults, and China had suffered from the US Power Armored soldier invasions along with the majority of the US's nukes. Most European countries with the Resource Wars and their in fighting and then the Great War most likely have nothing left. Africa and South America might have survived the Great War though
I would personally like to see the US united under the banner of the NCR then have them send the Player Character across the ocean to Europe or Africa. OR maybe Japan or Russiadeckai said:I know, I'm a avid fan myself. But that doesn't mean there absolute nothing left. Chances are, there are still a few survivors left. I'll mostly listen to my iPod while around the house for lack of commercials, but when I'm on patrol at work you bet I'm blasting The Buzz.TestECull said:It is. <3 that station. Thank god there's a good rock station. I can drown out the twang with Metallica whenever I want.
The music wouldn't turn me off of Fallout: Nashville though. I can't stand the music in all of the other Fallout games, but instead of not playing I simply replace the music with metal. Does it fit the setting? Not really. Do I care? NOPE!
I should clarify that I misspoke; 'misspell' isn't really the best term to describe their title choices, more like they add a twist to the titular locations of their games. For example, 'The Capital Wasteland' (I know, Bethesda, not Obsidian) is a twist on Washington being the capital of the United States; or 'New Vegas' as a twist on 'Las Vegas'; or 'The Pit' (also Bethesda) as a twist on "Pittsburgh". I interpreted it as them merely staying in touch with the whole 'post-apocalypse' theme as it implies that mankind has been bombed back to a new dark age and is now improperly referring to former states and cities by nicknames and abbreviations as a sign of gross ignorance brought by the collapse of western civilization.azraelthor said:I'm curious where do they misspell names of locations? Oh and The Commonwealth came from MITChimichanga said:Fallout: Rhode Island
Interestingly enough, albeit being rendered debatabley non-cannon with the release of Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 3 mentioned that Rhode Island and the northeastern US hosted 'The Commonwealth'. The Common wealth was apparently a society that retained or rediscovered most of the pre-war technologies and developed their own, even being able to create androids and cyborgs.
So yes, I'd say a fallout game based in RI would be pretty interesting. Of course, Obsidian would probably tweak the name to "Fallout: Road Island" to be faithful to their trend of intentionally misspelling or abbreviating know geographic locations to drive the whole 'post-apocalypse' theme further.
Oh ok I was thinking the Big Empty but that was people just reading MT as the two the two letters and deciding that it sounds like empty. Following the pattern, "Road Island" because 'rhode' is pronounced the same way as 'road' and could possibly be used to tease at the possibility of vehicle combat a la road warrior, which heavily influenced Wasteland and the Fallout games that came after it.
Never heard of MIT referred to as 'The Commonwealth'. Huh - cool to know, thanks. That actually gives context to the whole FO3 reference of the commonwealth.
Oh yeah, that's another good example. Forgot to mention it.azraelthor said:Oh ok I was thinking the Big Empty but that was people just reading MT as the two the two letters and deciding that it sounds like empty. But I do see what you are saying
I'm still sticking behind Fallout Universe, to where it takes place within the WHOLE Milkey Way galaxy.OutcastBOS said:Quoting Fallout 2 "Entire continents fell under boiling seas"Aprilgold said:The whole WORLD got fucked up from what I remember, I just don't know how BADLY!AnarchistFish said:Fallout: London
yay UK
Although was the UK ever bombed in the Fallout universe?
Also these would be interesting-
Fallout: Hong Kong
Fallout: Beijing
Fallout: Cairo
Fallout: Johannesburg
Fallout: Oslo
Fallout: Moscow
But...Fallout: Ronto
Fallout: Commonwealth
Fallout: Detroit (there's a lot more to Michigan than people think...)
Fallout: Tokyo
Fallout: Milwaukee/Green (Glow) Bay
Fallout: Los Angeles (in current gen)
are all great ideas.
Sadly, I think this is a good point about the tone, humor, and established mythos of the series.Skullkid4187 said:What people forget is that a Fallout Location would only work in America or possibly in China. For obvious reasons that makes the series the way it is. I think a Fallout New York could work.
