You can remove the invisible walls at the edge of the map on PC, much like you could in Oblivion and Fallout 3, but there's nothing really worthwhile beyond them.

I have a mod that removes them for PC, so if you use the PC version I could send it to you...
Sorry but I don't think the Xbox 360 takes mods.... unless Microsoft took the stick out of their ass about community content. Thanks for the offer though.
Nuh you don't get them for consoles... Which is why I always buy this kind of game for PC. Some things you just have to mod, and it makes the game so much better.

It's not around the edges that concern him, it's the invisi-walls around many hills and mountains inside the game, places that could have been great sniping spots or paths if it wasn't for the walls. When it comes to the border walls around the edge, I've only moved them back to accommodate the larger mods like a little village, never removed them.

I never had any issues in Fallout 3 or Oblivion with invisible walls. I used to quite enjoy trying to make any journey 'as the crow flies' even if it meant wangling my way up a mountain. There is also quite a lot of fun to be had with 'whats the view like from up there? Lets find out.' I tried it on New Vegas and promptly fell through the cliff texture because I'd been rubbing too hard between an invisible wall and the ground. Needless to say I had to reload my save. And there isn't a lot of autosaves when you are traveling. Ie none.

Using invisible walls like that just seems lazy to me. Instead of modeling the terrain in such a way that it's not possible to force you way up it, they just slap invisible walls on it reducing the options available to the player. In real life, if I had the choice between learning to climb a mountain or walking through a pack of Deathclaws... I think I'd start taking lessons.

Trying my hardest not to be a dogmatic fanboy here, but I think it really boils down to:

"Obsidian doesn't truly believe in sandbox games the way Bethesda does."

I haven't played a lot of NV yet (good god, the performance is horrific), but I've noticed the walls which are annoying. What's much more prevalent is the vast amount of physical chokepoints and "sealed" content.

But I don't want to speculate too much before I properly play the game, meh...

The only time it negatively impacts my game is when the object could easily be climbable, but then I get over it take out my Anti-Material Rifle and kill something two miles away with a headshot sending them flying back 20 feet.
but then again by my reckoning, the only things that are actually unclimbable are shear cliffs/mountain walls and smooth stone/metal walls.
No here's one you may not know about you can swim across the lake closest to the Hoover Dam and there's this very very slim slope that in real life would easily be climbable but there is a huge invisible wall. Notice though the slope does lead to the Legate Camp

Yep, this is the most annoying part of the game to me. It killed me once when I was looking for the caves around Bitter Spring. I tried to jump from one ledge to another. It should have been an easy jump (wasn't far at all), but I hit an invisible wall and fell to my death instead. It is NOT only just steep slopes, though. I've come across plenty of level or near-level terrain with invisible walls.

Anyone else notice invisible walls stopping bullets? I had a target that seemed to be in completely open view, but I shot (using a sniper rifle) and nothing happened. I then went into VATS and saw the chance of hitting him was 0%. So I moved so I could shoot from a different angle and took him down in one shot.

A wall of text that I totally read.
Hah hah hah... Oh, those wacky Deathclaws.

*Shudders*

Yeah, Bethesda put the fear of 'em back into me, so gotcha. Thing is, while I've only killed ONE the entire game, the fact of the matter is that the Deathclaws are doing this thing where they stick to certain areas in families, and I am FINE with that. No 'random' Deathclaws, because at this point the Giant Radscorpions are bugging me more. (Yes, I made a pun. SUE ME!)

Let's understand something here. I am not actually worried about the Geckos, giant bugs, Bighorns, Nightkin, Night Stalkers, all the different gangs, and a bunch of other things. I am a killicious person in Fallout. What's got me running for cover in a scary way is the F-ing Deathclaws. And if they're happy to stay outside of Sloan, in Primm Pass, and whatever else YOU CAN HAVE IT.

So! What do I do when Deathclaws block the way? Heh heh heh... I went around them. The long way around. I fought through tons of gangers and Geckos to get to the other side, learning that it's not just a Blind Deathclaw in Primm Pass, but a whole family. And you know what? Their kid is NOT CUTE! So, I am all around the Wild Wasteland, and I've only killed one Deathclaw. I am ALL OVER THE PLACE, FOLKS! And I am having a blast of a time.

If life gives you invisible walls, get around them. I recommend lots of sneaking, exploring, and then finding a sniper rifle. IT'S FUN!

They put insisible walls in the name of "Difficulty"? That's stupid, it shatters immersion. People should be rewarded for finding a different way to an objective, even if it is easier, it lets the player make stategy decsisions to avoid danger.
Exactly. In a game like that there is no justified excuse for me to insert invisible walls except for the edges of the map. This is quite the bullshit, first time I hear of such thing in Fallout.
except for the one where you can just hop on a higher rock and pick at the 7 deathclaws at your feet, because they can't.

Does it really stick in your craw that much? Yeah there's invisible walls. I found them too. You know what I did? Went another way, it didn't ruin my game, or my day or anything else.

I finished New Vegas on Sunday and loved it. Plan to start another playthrough soon.
