Well, I just pre-ordered Fallout: New Vegas collectors edition and I just wanted to ask, is there anyone else that finds it underwhelming in comparison to Fallout 3 Collectors Edition?

In the Fallout: New Vegas collectors edition you get a few poker chips, a fallout deck of cards, a "making of" DvD and some other things I thing (Apart from the game ofcourse)

In the words of Bethesda, the slick packaging will include:

Lucky 7 poker chips. Each of the seven poker chips was designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.
A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game. Use the cards to play poker, blackjack or Caravan, an original card game that was created by Obsidian especially for New Vegas!
A recreation of the game's highly coveted "Lucky 38" platinum chip.
A hardcover graphic novel "All Roads," that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. "All Roads" was written by Chris Avellone, the game's creative director, and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.
The Making of Fallout: New Vegas DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation and discuss topics such as story, setting, legacy of the Fallout franchise and more.

And in Fallout 3 collectors edition you got a Pip-Boy 3000 replica watch, a fallout lunchbox AND a bobblehead and the soundtrack (Which was epic) I just think that that is.. Alot more than what you get in New Vegas.
If you want the ultimate Fallout 3 experience, it looks like the recently announced Collector's Edition of the game just won't be enough. Publisher Bethesda Softworks just announced plans to offer Fallout 3: Survival Edition, a new edition of the post-apocalypse RPG that will be sold exclusively at Amazon.com.

In addition to all of the features included in the Collector's Edition of the game (the game, the lunch box container, the behind-the-scenes DVD, the hardcover art book and the Vault Boy bobblehead toy), the Survival Edition will include a life-size replica of the Pip-Boy 3000, the electronic device that is used by your player character in the game. While it can do all sorts of things in the Fallout 3 game, the real world version is used as a digital clock.

In addition, Bethesda Softworks PR head Pete Hines talks about the creation of the items in the Collector's and Survival Edition in a new diary on the game's official web site. He states that the Survival Edition wil be very limited so if you want it you need to act now. The Fallout 3: Survival Edition is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com for $119.99 for the PC version (it's $10 more for the console versions).

Anyway, whats your opinion on this?

Having only bought the regular edition of the game I can only judge from your two pictures. I agree with you that Fallout 3 looks way more appealing to me. I like the clock and bobbelhead.

Actually, it looks pretty cool

Usually, I think Collector's Editions of games are ripoffs, but this one actually looks pretty cool.

Especially with the Pipboy clock.

*checks again* oh that was the Fallout 3 collector's edition.

Dude, the New Vegas one pales in comparison to the Fallout 3 one.

I probably won't be getting the collector's edition, no matter how cool it looks. I'll just stick with the standard edition.

It looks pretty awesome, especially considering it comes with a graphic novel, but it can't really hold a candle to Fallout 3's. Of course, no game can save for BioShock 2. It's actually pretty cool and I'm considering getting it.

You get a Graphic Novel aswell. I think that's worth the money in itself, that's awesome.

Yeah I have to agree with you there.

The Fallout 3 one is very nice, as it isn't "that" much, but its still very cool.
(In comparison to something like free night vision goggles.. that's cool.. but way over the top.)

The New Vegas one... That's pretty awful compared.. still it could prove to be quite sexy when it arrives.

Has it been confirmed that poker chips will be the currency? As opposed to bottle caps?

Because to me that right there seems to be a hint?

Or am i completely wrong?

Well to be honest, i prefer the New Vegas swag.

I'll get more fun out of a deck of cards and some poker chips than a bobblehead and a DVD, and that clock is just tacky.

Its the sound track, one of the best game sound tracks ever.
And the clock can be modded quite easily to put say.. An iPhone on it and you can prove how much of a nerd you are! (I want that watch..)

Well, this one has cards. Which, provided they are not demented, I would actually use.
They arent demented, theyre regular playing cards with a fallout esque theme

Yea, but wasn't the Fallout 3 Collectors Edition mad expensive, while the New Vegas one is moderately priced?

100 dollars for the New Vegas collectors edition, 120 for Fallout 3.

That's probably because the ordinary Fallout 3 Collecter's Edition didn't contain that Pip-boy watch: that was reserved for the "Survival Edition", some even-more-special package in the vein of the Halo 3: Legendary edition, but only available through Amazon in quite limited numbers.

So you're comparing the ordinary Collector's Edition of Fallout: Vegas to the Super-duper Collector's Edition of Fallout 3.

Well, there doesnt seem to be one of those for New Vegas so.
