So Escapist, like many of you, i bought Fallout New Vegas. i get it home, and install it, and the game tells me that my hardware is sufficient to run the game at Very High graphics settings, but when i actually try and play the game, it crashes almost instantaniously, which is right pain in the arse.

my hardware is as follows
Asus p5k motherboard
Intel Quadcore 2.8GHz
Nvidia GeForce 8800GT - dual monitors

i've tried disabling the second monitor through windows, and a whole raft of other stuff, but i can't seem to get this damn game to run. does the escapist have any information that can help?
if you're experiencing this issue as well, i'll point you Here

it does nothing for me, but maybe it'll help you

kinda, but i get past the auto configuration. it loads to the copyright disclaimer then crashes. someone in there talked about disabling that extra content thing whose name escapes me at the moment, but that hasn't helped either

Well, first thing is make sure you are actually posting info like this on the Bethesda PC Issues forums and looking thru there for adivce. Sounds like there is a major conflict somewhere.. maybe even something with Steam.
