force quit and try again... same problem you may want to talk to steam tech support rather then the masses here... welcome to bethesda where glitches are like std's not neccesarily a good thing but a sure sign your getting out there and giving it your all

Verify the integrity of the game files, there's an option for that under Properties when you right click the game. It sounds like it didn't download properly.

"1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired"?

That means that it didn't download all of the files properly, the missing/damaged file will be re-downloaded and repaired.

It'll do it for you. Just let it carry on and you'll see it download again; hopefully it should work first time, else re-verify it.

EDit: Also, never fear, it only downloads the one file and not the whole damn thing again!

When a file or fileset fails to verify on Steam it automatically re-downloads the files that are corrupted/damaged and repairs the files itself. If the problem persists, however you may need to completely erase the game and manually re-download it, but those instances are incredibly rare in my experience.

Hey the same thing is happening to Torchlight but it says all the files are ok.

If you've got any issues with the games you've downloaded from Steam the easiest and fastest way to get them running again is the verify the cache on them. If you've got any other problems on any other games try that as a first stop, if the problem persists, that's when you'll need help.
