Well. I love all games simular to Fallout. Games like baldurs gate, arcanum, diablo 2, divine divinity and so on
Fallout Tactics isn't like any of them. If you have played Jagged Alliance 2 then it is a little like that but if you haven't then get a digital download of Jagged Alliance 2 Gold as it is so much better than Fallout Tactics that I would bust an internal organ laughing at you for buying the wrong game. Or maybe not. I'm just trying to emphasis the point that it is better.
I like the fallout universe. Laugh at me if you want to.

Im just wondering
Is there any major differences between them?
Or does fallout tactics just continue the story and play like regular fallout games?
Id appreciate any answers.
Im gonna either buy Fallout 1 & 2 Or the Fallout Ultimate Collection, but the collection costs about double yet comes with Tactics.
Okay, I guess I'll chip in since Fallout is the Greatest Sci-Fi RPG ever made.

Fallout 2 is more of the same. That's it. It's not any worse, and it is a hell of a lot of Fun. Just like the first game. It has improvements over the first, and More unique cities. Seriously, it is well worth your time. Tons of humor. I love New Reno.

Now there are 2 Fallout Tactics games. Forget the Fallout Tactics: Brother hood of steel game released on consoles. It is a sub-par game not really worth your time. Rent it at most.

Fallout:Tactics on PC is just what it says: A post Nuclear Tactical Combat game. You have a squad of six, and have complete control of them. It's like controlling six different characters. Aside from your main character, the one you create, the rest are already in the game and you choose which you want. This game is vastly different, and is a lot of fun.

Although developed by a different studio, its an excellent game that I beat 3 times.

So buy both. definetley.

Well I played the PS2 version of Fallout Tactics, and no it was very different from previous Fallout games. For one, you didn't get to create your own character, you had to choose between 3 premade characters. Also the game play seemed more 3rd person then the uh... what's the term for that? isometric? the top down view anyway, of Fallouts 1&2. Again this was the PS2 version, I don't know if the PC version is any different. I got the Fallout Ultimate Collection myself of Steam, but I haven't decided whether to actually install Tactics.
Actually, that's 'Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel' you're thinking of.
Tactics was never on the consoles.
Isn't it "Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel"?

Allright. Thanks for your opinion. Starting to sound a bit more of a baldurs gate tactic sorta game without as much RPG.
Does anyone know if theres loot on it?
And dont really care for any console games =)

Well i loved fallout 2 extensively, and though tactics was different i thought it was really awesome. Far different gameplay, focus on long single missions with different ways of doing things, controlling a team of up to 6 to tactically take on the missions. Its more like what a set fallout D+D would be.

Get the collection i say, if your going for it, may as well go the whole hog. You may or may not like it

EDIT: Pleeeeenty of loot, every enemy. I had 3 Deathclaws on my team who were there for solo/stealth/awesome kills but mainly for massive loot carrying (big strength bonus). Missions would take me twice as long cause id run through it, then run through it with my Deathclaws picking up all the stuff around

Uh, yeah..sure.

Dude, Jagged Alliance 2 is an excellent game, but I wouldn't call it better.
I've beaten Both games. Jagged Alliance 2 first, then Fallout Tactics, then JA2....I think I went back and forth 3 times.

To be honest, get both of them. They are both kick ass games, and so excellent that only you as the individual could decide which is better. Although JA2 requires a lot of Micro-Management.

I would, and you know what is better than both? X-COM. I have this ability to judge games and work out which ones are better than others.

It's a matter of opinion, and I'm saying he needs to decide for himself. Also the fact that you "Have an ability" is null, since its all personal opinion, which is why I wouldn't call one game better than the other.

Also, try not to sound so pompous.

I am pompous so I don't think it is fair for you to say that it is bad for me to be pompous as who can really say whether that is a good or bad thing objectively. It's just your opinion that it is bad for me to be pompous while personally I think that it is great fun.

Fallout: Tactics is just unremarkable in a lot of ways other than it being a Fallout game and a PC tactics game that isn't bad. It just doesn't stack up against something really special like JA2. That's the way I see it, plain and simple.

*Wimpers at the mention of Fallout Brotherhood of Steel*

Actually, the No Mutants Allowed forums dubed the console title PoS.

Chronologically Fallout Tactics kind of follows Fallout, but there are massive discrepancies. It falls into a quasi cannon state. The events that occured in it only exist if they don't contradict established material elsewhere. (Which includes the weapons in the game.) The Chicago branch of the Brootherhood is mentioned in Fallout 3.

Brotherhood of Steel was a cheap sh-tty cash in.

My advice is, track down the DVD release that has 1, 2 & Tactics, if you want the physical media. Othewise Steam or Good Old Games are your best bets.

If you're looking to experience more of what you feel is Fallout, play FO1 and 2.

I think 2 is the better game, but it has a slow start (like most RPGs, I guess, except even slower than FO1.)

Fallout Tactics, I really did enjoy. My only problem was that it was more focused on combat (makes sens though, it's a tactical combat game) and you didn't have the options/freedom that you did in the other fallout games of, you know, defeating the final boss with a puff of logic involving your speech skill.

I have Fallout 1,2&Tactics but only played 1&2 i got them on gog.com(good.old.games.com).
Buy them download them on gog or gametap(not) the first two only than maybe tactics but keep in mind that tactics is not the same as 1&2, and is more like a RTS but still a good game from
what I herd.

God, you should have heard how people argued against me when I expressed my opinion about Bioshock.

I don't know why people can't like a game just because it's different. I see every game for what it is by itself, not as a series.

To be honest, I found JA2 lacking compared to Fallout: Tactics.

By being Pompous, You give off the impression that you are being rude, and this isn't respected. Feel free to continue though, and may you wind up in politics. Or fed to the lions after you piss off the emperor.

That's Brotherhood of Steel, we don't like to talk about him.

Fallout 2 is pretty much a heavily expanded version of Fallout, it plays the same way but has a lot more stuff in it.

Tactics on the otherhand is a six man squad based tactical mission rpg thing. I quite liked it. It doesn't have the depth of story and awesome of Fallout 1 and 2, but it is rewarding in that it gets harder, often very harder.

The first time you encounter deathclaws, mutants or robots are pretty intense.

Fallout Tactics was made by another developer and is a squad tactics RTS. It also isn't seen as being "canon" unlike Fallout 2 if that matters to you although some of the stuff in Fallout 2 is so crazy I can't see why anyone would care.
It's like semi-canon. Midwestern Brotherhood existed because it got canonized in FO3.
